Simulated Emergency Test
The 2007 SET was held on the morning of Saturday October 20th..  Twenty stations participated over a 2 1/2 hour period.  This year the SET was centered around providing the Utica Chapter of the American Red Cross with emergency communications support during a simulated shelter activation. Liaisons with the NTS, the Central District Emergency Net, the Oneida Red Cross Chapter and Onondaga County ARES/RACES were established.  Thanks go to Rich K4LV for his efforts to make this possible.
OMEN:  OMEN (Oneida-Madison Emergency Net) meets twice a month on the 145.170 MHz W2MO repeater.   OMEN is an ARES/RACES training net. Nets are held on the first and third Tuesday of every month at 1915 local time and typically last from 15 to 30 minutes.

Text Box: Weather Service, one of our served agencies, O-M ARES conducts a snow spotters net on the W2MO repeater every evening at 1915 local time whenever there has been a significant accumulation of snow over the past 24 hours.  For the purpose of the snow spotters net, a significant accumulation is defined as 3 or more inches of snow at least somewhere in the greater Oneida and Madison county area.
Anyone can call a snow spotters net and instructions are available on the O-M ARES Website.

Last year’s hamfest was a great success and it is hoped that he same weather man will be available to give us another sunny hamfest day.  Text Box: At the October 2007 meeting, the Rome Radio Club voted to conduct a hamfest on the third Saturday of the month of August 2008.  On 16 August 2008, the annual Rome Radio Club hamfest will Text Box: Many of the clubs hamfest memories include lots of rain and wet weather.
So mark your calendars and come out for a great time. You never know what kind of “Good Stuff” you’ll find.
