Kirstin's & John's 2nd child was born 9/16...see below and on the "Hannah, Beck, & Ingrid" page. After umpteen years, we finally got married June 26, 1999. The wedding was at our Angleside home in Shelton, and we exchanged vows perched upon a boulder Terry excavated from a corner of the yard and placed over our stream as a bridge. A relatively small group attended, close family and friends, and the weather was just right. It was a home-made wedding, with lots of preparation and effort provided by our loved ones. We took a very short trip to Bainbridge Island as a "honeymoon," saving our vacation days for later in the year. In October we took a train across the Cascades and Rockies to Minneapolis, where we stayed with the McNairs. We also took a circuitous route through the Mid-west by car, visiting Terry's relatives in S. Dakota, Tracy's relatives & friends in Iowa and southern Minnesota, and our friend Pancho and his family in lovely Bayfield, Wisconsin. This holiday season, we put up the Christmas lights and our third tree in this house, and spent Christmas Eve and Day in Edmonds with Tracy's family. We did make a short run north to Mt. Vernon to see Terry's grandmother and uncle, while Sandy, Peter, and Hannah were there. On the 29th, after Terry's parents returned from Mazatlan, we opened presents at their house, also with Sandy, Peter, & Hannah. New Year's Eve found us out at midnight for the first time, but Tracy was checking the Y2K readiness of her store while Terry cooked chicken strips for her staff and read a book. Aren't we the party animals? Spring 2000 was spent preparing for our Summer trip to Ireland. We were gone from June 18 to July 4. Our first wedding anniversary was spent in a lighthouse 8 miles off the western coast. The entire two week journey was "brilliant," to borrow the term. We love our home, but if the trip to Ireland had taken place 3 years ago before we became property owners, we likely would've expatriated! Thanks to all who helped make our trip as wonderful as it was, including: *Our families in Washington State who provided support; *Sandy, Peter, and Hannah (even "notty Walter") for providing a base of operations, transportation, food, and tour service; *Peter's family for embracing us as part of their family; *The Friels of Thalassa Country Home in Narin/Portnoo for their congeniality, local expertise (the feast at Nancy's was wonderful, give Guinness a pat for us!) and access to the best sunset we've ever seen; *The Timmermans of Clare Island Lighthouse...their courage and fortitude created the perfect place for our first anniversary (plus the food was exquisite!)...we'll return someday; *David Wilson and the staff of Maud's Ice Cream for their hospitality...what a wonderful place to work; *And Brian McAuley of the RAC for getting us back on the road after an unexpected stay in Bangor. Next year's anniversary will likely find us watching roofers and plumbers work on our house, but many returns to The Emerald Isle are in our future! For Tracy's August birthday, we were joined by Matt & Oma for a ferry ride to Seattle, dinner at Anthony's, and a "Hot Summer Nights Concert on the Pier" with Manhattan Transfer. Our connections to one of the members didn't quite get us all back stage (just Terry), but we did secure autographs from all of the group on our CDs. The concert was wonderful, and the weather co-operated fully. As mentioned above, Kirstin and John and Beck (and Emma) have a new member of the Fosberg household; Ingrid Rosella was born Tuesday September 19. We only have one picture of her to add to those of her brother and cousin, but certainly more will come soon! Occasionally there are questions regarding our e-mail address (and part of the URL for our page), "Sand Dollar Crafts." A few years ago, we started to combine our crafty talents and interests (Tracy's fabric arts, Terry's woodwork) and actually sold a bunch of stuff. We gave a lot away, too, which was no less rewarding since we rarely got the money back that we put into the items, especially figuring the time spent on them. It probably would've helped if we'd made the same thing more than once, but what fun is that? We may give it another go sometime in the future. We've also discussed teaching some craft classes in our home, mainly to our friends who feel they could use a little imaginative spark. That's all there is to it...some quilts, decorated boxes, wooden furniture and toys, maybe we'll post some photos from time to time. Check here occasionally for more updates! |
