UPDATED AUGUST 17, 2000
Hi!
After 15 years in radio broadcasting, I left KMAS on March 31, 1998. In addition to reading books onto tape for Read Right Learning Systems, I spent some time on the yard in preparation for the next summer, our wedding.
I started working at Barnes & Noble Booksellers at the end of May '98, and have since become a supervisor. I love the job, my co-workers, MOST of the customers, and our product. I've never worked in retail before, and I figure if you're selling something, you can't beat books! After two years with B&N, I still love it. We've seen a lot of changes, but I'm still much happier there! One unexpected change was the repealing of the necktie requirement. After amassing a collection of nearly 200, I still plan on wearing them! Also, my supervisory position has switched from the broad combination of travel/languages/health/medicine/fitness/diet/nutrition/self-improvement/psychology/cooking/biography/audio (whew!) portion of the store to the fiction/mystery/romance/sci-fi/sports/true crime section. I now have (in my opinion at this early date) the easiest job in the store. I miss the close eye I could keep on the travel and cooking books, but I'm not going to complain.
My sister Sandy, her husband Peter, and Hannah are in the process of relocating from Ireland to the U.S., spending about a month in Shelton until after Hannah's 2nd birthday. Then, they're off to San Diego, California for a warmer Autumn/Winter.
