THE BUTTERFLY

A butterfly is lovely, so delicate its form.
It's hard to realize it was once a lowly worm.
The transformation's so complete that you would never know
The ugliness that it once was, before it was to grow,

Into the lovely creature God planned for it to be.
And like the butterfly, He has a plan for you and me.
We start out in His kingdom with no beauty of our own;
Then Jesus adds His glory and before too long we've grown

Into a slight reflection of His precious beauty fair.
He works with us each day in grace with tender loving care
To form the lovely creatures He longs for us to be,
Reflecting all His love and glory throughout eternity.

So, like the caterpillar, let's wait for Him to do
The work He wants to do in us to make us lovely too.

A RAINBOW

A rainbow is a lovely thing, a glory to behold.
Some say that if you find its end, you'll find a pot of gold.
But I don't need a pot of gold or riches oh so rare ~
I have the greatest treasure, my precious Jesus fair.
His love is so much better than anything on earth,
And loving Him more wonderful than all the world's great worth.
Still when I see a rainbow my heart thrills at the sight
And I'm reminded of hIs love which fills me with delight.
How sweet it is to know Him and walk with Him each day.
His Spirit strengthens, comforts me in all that comes my way.
So when you see a rainbow, I pray that you'll know too
That Jesus gave His life to show that He loves you.

SWEET HOUR WITH YOU

Trees and grass and sky so blue
Always make me think of you.
Mornings cool, refreshing breeze
Calm me down, put me at ease.
Quiet time to spend with you
Reflecting on the things you do
To bring me closer every day
To knowing what's your will and way.
I love the freshness of the morn
When night has faded, stars are gone.
A whole new day to start with you,
So show me what we are to do.
how me now in this sweet hour
How to live within your power.
Guide me throughout all the day
In all I do, work or play;
And when the golden day is through
Give me another sweet hour with you.

THE SAND AND THE SEA

The spectacle of sand and sea is wondrous to behold.
Eager waves kiss silent shore as from times of old -
Sometimes softly, always urging blending of the two -
A marriage of sand and sea created God by you.

Nothing man could ever do, in total, could surpass
Or measure up to what you've wrought in this mass
Of water longing to stay with land.
But, alas! it must return to the depths your hand
Has from time infinite ordered it to do.
Why this incessant quest? Who can know but you?

A dozen seagulls fly by in graceful wavy line,
Seeking some tasty morsel brought up by foamy brine.
An elderly couple stroll in leisure by the shore -
Recalling when they were young, longing to be once more.

Children are playing in the sand, raising a castle high,
Waiting impatiently a little flag to fly
From the top, until some persistent wave
Comes and sweeps away what they had wished to save.

Young lovers pass by, arm in arm. Their eyes cannot stray
From one another as they soak in sun and spray,
Hardly aware of anything beyond their happy love -
Yet knowing deep within that it comes from Heaven above,
From your own hand, a gift of love and grace
Allowing them to boldly meet each other face to face,
Like the waves meet the sand so soft and warm and white
Sometimes softly kissing then embracing with passioned might.

Softly sings the ocean now a soothing lullaby
Until an angry storm stirs up the surf to billow high
A symbol of our life, it seems - ever changing, so unsure.
Yet in your arms we can remain eternally secure.
In awe I sit and watch the ocean meet the sand
And once again I am assured that all is in your hand.
