Building furniture and other fine pieces from Mesquite, the Mother-of-all domestic hardwoods!

This is a site dedicated to woodworking with mesquite and the Arts & Crafts era.  The furniture projects include a mesquite rocking horse, a  mesquite morris chair, a mesquite bookcase and much more.  Items specifically relating to the Arts and Crafts era include articles on William Morris, Gustav Stickley and the Greene Brothers to name only a few.

I began working with wood just before my son was born.  My first piece was a rocking horse, to celebrate the expected arrival.  I found that I fell in love very quickly with both my son and crafting fine objects from wood.    For a trip to my page about the wonderful hardwood mesquite, click here.  I do occasionally sell furniture items and mesquite lumber , but really build for the thrill of it.

I became interested in the A&C era by happenstance.  I had built a chiffonier for my son's room from a plan I drew myself.  When I found the right hardware, it was a reproduction of Stickley's hardware.  I found out in this way that most of the stuff I drew up fit into this period of design.  Hundreds of books and magazines later, I have a strong affinity for this period and am taken by the life style it prescribes.

Included in some of the other pages are a few of the things that I have spent  my time on.  I also give you my opinion of the pros and cons of some of the tools that I have some experience with.
