Just in case some of you don't know Deal's Gap is a road that is located in Tennessee.  From the sticker above you can see this road is US 129.  This road is right on the edge of the Great Smoky Mountains.  It has 318 turns in 11 miles!!

This sign speaks the absolute truth!!!
Be very very careful!!!

Well here I am at Deal's Gap.  Sorry for the crappy picture here, my friend Steve took it.  He likes to stand far away from things.  I had to use my scanner to zoom in on myself.

We stayed at the Cross Roads Of Time Motel.  This is the place to stay when visting the Gap.  They have very nice new clean showers to use.

These are the pictures of are bikes at the base of the GAP.  We met these great guys from  Myrtle Beach in South Carolina.  My bike is in the center.

This is my friends bike (NOT MINE).  This is what his bike looked like after he went BODY SURFING at the Gap.  He is the 15th R1 to crash at the Gap according to the owner of the hotel we stayed at.

Well this is what happens after you cross the yellow line.  At the Gap there is a nice thick solid yellow line in the middle of the road.  Cross it in a full left lean and BAM you are BODY SURFING!!!

This is what my peg looks like after Deals Gap and shredding around up here in NY

This is the front tire

This is the edge of the rear tire.
time for a new one!!

THIS IS SCOTT'S NEAR HIGH SIDE EXPERIENCE
This happened one day near my house.  I was in a corner about 50 MPH and gave it the gas in 2nd gear.  The engine had a little to much grunt for the rear tire.  It broke lose, as  you can see by the scuffing of the tire I was all the way out.  (shown by the slide marks  perpendicular (90 degree angle) to the direction of the tire.  Luckily I grew up riding dirt bikes and was able to recover from this nasty violent slide.  Some of my friends that have only rode street bikes may not have come back from this kind of a incident.
Moral of the story.  If you have an R1 respect it!!
