System Security

More and more offices are running more and more computers.  And you need to do more than just Hope it's not someone else running YOUR computers...

If you're on the internet hopefully you recognize the term "Computer Virus."  And have an "Anti-Virus" program running.  AND you always keep it fully updated...

Hopefully you also place the term "Firewall" and you either run one or have a reason not to run one...

"Firewalls" are especially important if like many DSL and Cable users you are running a "Fixed IP Address" through an "Always On Connection."

And remember, with Security in the computer world, you need to keep current.  That includes everything from making sure your Anti-Virus programs ALWAYS has the latest updates to keeping up to date with security patches.

The potential threat is demonstrated by the recent Microsoft Security bulletin excerpt below.

"...we want to call special attention to this particular instance. We have become aware of some activity on the Internet that we believe increases the likelihood of exploiting this vulnerability. Specifically, code has been published on several Web sites that would allow someone to spread a worm or virus that takes advantage of the vulnerability in question, thereby affecting your computing environment."
