[Main page] [Fishing Reports] [Things I've Seen] [Tips] [Awards] [Fish Pix] [Links] [ Quiz]
Hi. I'm Danny and I'm nuts about fishing. Saltwater fishing out of Half Moon Bay, to be exact. I've had a hard time finding any reliable information on catches and locations so I've started this page in the hopes of giving people, like myself, a place to network. It is my hope that when you go out of Half Moon Bay, you'll drop me a line with your catches and co-ordinates so I can post them for others to read.
A little info about myself. I have a 25ft. Century berthed at Pillar Point Harbor and I go out fishing almost every Saturday with my 12 year old son, B.J. My boat is the "Nancy D" and I'm on channel 18 when fishing. Give me a shout and if I'm out there I'll answer.
So if you guys e-mail me with information, include your name, name of boat, number and type of fish, and co-ordinates, or compass bearing and miles out, I'll post it and we can all share the info. Keep in touch and we might just make this work out for everyone. Thanks guys. While you're sitting at home, visit the U.S. Coast Guard and learn a little more about what they do for you.
A few more things before I end this section. The links you find were added because I thought that the information found there was important, informative, or just plain entertaining. This is not a commercial site. The only ad on this page is for the free form at the bottom. A neccesary evil because they gave me the form for free. (kind of explains their name, doesn't it) There are no pictures, and the layout is about as simple as they come. I wanted a page that would load fast, not have any plug-in errors, because that's what I look for myself. When I'm going fishing, I just want to get the information, and go.
I really can't stress enough, the importance of boating safety either. The Coast guard auxillary, and the U.S. Power Squadron both have safety courses for a nominal fee. At the Coast guard site, you can even get a home course that you fill out at your leisure. Please look into these if you have not taken one before. If you are the type of person to make excuses like, "I haven't got the time" or "I've been boating for x number of years", then at least get yourself a copy of Chapman Piloting Seamanship & Small Boat Handling. You'll be surprised at the stuff you didn't know.
Let's all be safe boaters. The water's cold, and even a minor mishap could have fatal consequences.
If you have a chance, PLEASE read this Notice to mariners from the N.D.B.C. It has to do with all boaters.
"A 64 year old fisherman, who was swept from the rocks Saturday morning near Half Moon Bay, died hours after he was plucked unconscious from the water.
He was spotted floating in the water by a passerby.
The man, identified as Chong Park of Fremont, had lost all vital signs but regained his pulse after San Mateo County paramedics resuscitated him.
He was taken by helicopter to Stanford University Medical Center, said a U.S. Coast Guard spokesman.
He died Saturday afternoon.
Coast Guard officers believe the man was fishing at Martin's Beach, four miles south of Half Moon Bay, when he was swept off some rocks about 10:30 a.m."
Folks, we have to be careful around the ocean. Not only in our boats, but also on the water's edge. It does not take long for hypothermia to set in. Let's try to make this a safe fishing year. Be careful and be aware of what's going on around you at all times.
Send info and suggestions I need your input to make this work.
