OUR MISSION STATEMENT |

|
|
We are exhibitors/ breeders first and are not pet brokers or breeders who just breed and breed with no set goals only to make a profit. We don't even make a profit in a given year do to the expenses of high quality food, proper medical care and shows but our focus are on preserving, improving the health, temperament and beauty of both the Silver & Golden Persians and Turkish Angoras are the utmost importance to us. Animal Rights activists say that cat breeders are the biggest problem in over cat population in shelters when in realty we are only 10 % of the whole cat population in the United States but yet we are slowly losing our rights to preserve and protect these ancient breeds and they will eventually be lose for ever unless more people vote and express their concerns about this problem differently. We support our local shelters which are mainly of kittens bred from feral/stray cats. We live near a farm and sadly the farmer has so many strays/feral cats. We try our best to help those in need and have from time to time help shelters rebilitate moms with babies and donate money to spay/neuter programs. We also support and encourage newer programs like trap, spay & lease to those cats who can't be tamed and are feral but will not continue adding to the problem of over populating more feral cats. To show more support to shelters we have always had a no questions ask policy of taken our cats back for any reason. Also we have all our cats leaving as pets whether kitten or adult are spayed/neutered and microchipped to protect them and avoid unwanted or unplanned mixbred litters. We have taken cats back in the past as old as 9 years of age and found loving homes for them. We are very honest people and back all our cats for any genetic problems based on autopsy and medical documents from license veterinarians. We are always available to answer any questions, give advice and offer our personal experience on any subject about our kittens. We do screen buyers when placing kittens because of the fear of the impulse shopper especially around certain holidays who doesn't do his/her homework about kitten care before hand. This kind of buyer will more likely get rid of the poor kitty with out checking with us first at a local shelter because they were not aware of the special care these kitties must have with their long coats. A couple trips to the groomer through out the year would do the trick and you will have a very happy comfortable kitty. Most pet kittens are ready to go within 10- 12 weeks of age, depending on the size, immune system and development of their little minds. We want you to enjoy your new fuzzy baby and with that said we try our best to match the home with the right kitten in personality. These kittens are handled daily from birth and with older children. Also on a personal note from many years of working with persians in general. We have found that an altered male (by 6 MOs) makes a wonderful pet for children then females because of their laid back nature and high tolerance to rough play and handling although we would not want to have a two year old child have a field day on the poor kitty. Our kittens are vaccinated at least two sets of baby shots, spayed/neutered and microchipped before leaving to their new homes. We love to talk about our babies and try to match the kitten to the right family or new owner based on the family's or new owner's life style. We want you to love and enjoy your kitten for all his/her life. Doreann Nasin - Gillies Cattery
