The
Silver Persian as Janice Reichle (30 years of breeding silvers)
put it has long been referred to as the "Rolls Royce"
of the cat world. They are the most sot after color among
Persians and are very popular in movies, commercial and
magazines.
When
you first look at a silver persian you see those huge round
beautiful dark green or bluish-green eyes. We love to sit
all day long looking into those eyes as they were like jewels
reflecting light changing color. The top silver persian
breeders will only colorbreed (meaning silver to silver
breedings only) their lines and occasionally had a black,
blue, or smoke persian in the lines to keep the lines healthy
and vigor as well as add size and weight.
The
Golden Persian is recessive to the silver and for many years
before this color was accepted in the 1970's the breeders
would just place these kittens as pets but a few interested
breeders were working on this color and developed a beautiful
apricot/honey colored golden with the contrast of the dark
green or blue-green eyes. The color in recent years is becoming
more popular and excepted more in the shows.
The
Silver Persian is a persian in smaller stature but they
make up for it in their beautiful silver tipped white coats
and green eyes. They are also the most outgoing of persians
with unique personalities. They are very intelligent, playful,
affectionate and are most part great lap warmers. They enjoy
any evening on the lap of someone they loved while watching
TV. The Silver Persian is not couch potatoes compared to
other persians. They are sensitive to their surroundings
and it's important to socialize them at an early age.
They
do require a lot of grooming and starting at an early age
is very important to avoid grooming problems as adults.
They also have more of a sensitive skin and require gentle
handing and combing will make a difference in your cat's
temperament.
Our focus in our persians is the type,
cobby bodies, long dripping coats, tiny ears, a cute button
of a nose (but not mush ugly) and huge big green/blue green
eyes. Our Silver Persians have sweet personalities and make
a wonderful addition to most homes. Our focus is not only
the Silver Persians correct beautiful clear color and type
but temperament is very important. You can have a beautiful
cat to show but if he/she doesn't want to be handled it
would be much of a cat. Our Silver Persians is our first
love and at dinner time when you look down at a giant fuzzy
silver tipped carpet with 6 pairs of green eyes looking
up at you, it can put a smile on your face!
