| About me:

Besides dance, I enjoy world travel and spent most of my childhood in Germany, Japan, Taiwan, and Okinawa. However, it was my trips to Egypt and Turkey that deepened my commitment to educate Americans about Middle Eastern culture and the art of belly dance. What's next for me as my dance career winds down? Well, I'm currently working toward my goals of teaching English as a Second Language and traveling. My first trip was to Damascus, Syria last summer where I studied Arabic, traveled, and just hung out. Ah, I clearly remember the parties, souks, yummy food, fragrant jasmin trees, ancient ruins, extremely "friendly" men... I was always a welcome guest as Syrians are warm and gracious people nothing like the U.S. media and government would have us believe. |

| Since Beirut is a quick, two-hour car ride from Damascus, I took a couple of trips to experience Lebanon's famous Pigeon Rocks, the marina at picturesque Byblos, amazing architecture of a rebuilt Beirut, more extremely "friendly" men, and of course, a belly dance show featuring fantastic live music. (Syria is known for the dabke, not belly dance!) I am keen to return to Syria and Lebanon soon but find that Morocco is beckoning for 2007... | ||||||||
| But enough about me. This belly dance site is for dance aficionados of all ages and persuasions and is intended to be both informative and entertaining.
