"Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime."

We are all extremely conscious of the growing disparity between Cambodia and the rest of the world in computer literacy. In more developed countries, children are exposed and acquire computer skills at a very early age. In our country, even public schools in large metropolis do not have resources to acquire a single computer. Case in point, Lycée Sisowath, at this moment, does not have any computer facility in spite of its wonderful history for educational achievement.

There is no need to inform all of you about the consequence to our people if they are left behind in this process.

The mission of this campaign is to support educational programs on computer literacy by fostering partnership between concerned citizens, school authorities, teachers and students.

The primary objectives are:

    - Acquiring computer equipment.

    - Setting up a computer equipped facility at schools with initial support.

    - Advise school curriculum in computer sciences

The goal at this moment is to establish a model computer laboratory at Lycée Sisowath.

The facility will be equipped with 25 computers networking with shared printers and scanner. It is targeted to be operational by September 2003 and ready for 2003-2004 school year. Future expansion plan includes Internet capability.

During Lycée Sisowath Alumni First Reunion, Lycée Sisowath's administration, some Alumni and Friends including organizations such as South East Asia Mutual Assistance Association Coalition Inc. (SEAMAAC) and Cambodian American Senior Association Inc. (CASA) has already been committed resources to support this project but much more are needed.

The key to success depends on your enthusiastic participation as a catalyst agent as well as other constructive roles. Don’t let this opportunity squander by. Give back to our nation and her people that have been through so much and have lost so many. Restoring our nation starts with a foundation of young bright generation. What a better way to give back to our nation than education and knowledge.

Your charitable contribution in money, goods and your expertise in particular, are indeed needed and welcome.

Do not hesitate to contact us for any reason. I hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks in advance.
