FERTILIZING

Fertilizing can provide a helpful boost to plants that are in poor soil or stressed from transplanting. There are many products on the market, such as a slow release fertilizer packet called "Easy-Gro". This three-year slow release packet adds to the growth of your plants for several years, even in poor soils.

If you decide to fertilize, be sure the fertilizer doesn’t contain weed killers in its formula. You can also use a common granular garden fertilizer such as 10-10-10. Water-soluble fertilizers are also available. They, such as Miracle Grow, will provide a quick boost of energy. No matter what fertilizer you use, make sure you always apply it by the manufacturer directions – NEVER over fertilize or apply between the end of July and the middle of October.
