WATERING

The measure of life or death for a new landscape is supplemental watering or natural rainfall. However, it is easier to kill a plant by over watering then by not watering at all. New planting should be watered heavily rather than by frequent light waterings. The amount of watering will need to be adjusted due to the soil type, plant location, growing season, mulching, or the amount of rainfall. Check your soil at about 5" below the surface approximately one week after applying an inch of water. If it’s dry, it’s time to water. Still wet – wait.
