I first belonged to STC from 1984-86 as a member of the Oklahoma State University Student Chapter in Oklahoma City. I served as editor of the newsletter twice and won two consecutive competition awards for the newsletter. I also served as vice president and president of the student chapter.

After joining the Oklahoma Chapter in 1991, I quickly became sold on the benefits of STC. I have served in every chapter office and managed the program, membership, newsletter, employment, and publicity committees. I also managed the Publications Competition for three years.

On the Society's international board of directors, I have worked on the branding, governance, and leadership programs. I was an integral part of creating the new Chapter Achievement Awards program so all chapters would have a chance to receive recognition for the important work they do. I also helped create the Online Director-Sponsor’s Toolkit, managed the Bylaws Committee, and worked on the Chapter Leadership Development committee.

Since 1999, I have presented more than 103 programs at STC conferences, chapter meetings, and leadership workshops. The Branding research discovered that chapter leaders wanted more training, so I have given 19 leadership workshops. As a result, Region 5 chapters won more Chapter Achievement Awards and Chapter of Distinction awards in both Chicago and Nashville than any other region!
