Brooks.gif (25534 bytes) Paul Brooks:  Brooks is alive and well at Fort Bragg, and is enjoying life with his wife and two daughters.  I had an entertaining conversation with him Sunday the 15th.  His family responsibilities have forced him to trade in the famous Brooksmobile (supercharged Eagle Talon) for a minivan, but he's balanced it out by buying a Harley Sportster 1200.
Ronnie.gif (24807 bytes) Ron CardwellRon received a medical discharge on 3 November 1992, making him the Bandit '91 point man  into the civilian world.  He reports that his health is now greatly improved.  Married (Jami) and no kids (as of yet).

It comes as no surprise that Ron's found success as a civilian.  He's been working for the last couple of years as a management consultant for a company, and Jami is working for their congresswoman, allowing them the opportunity to meet "...such influentials as Steve Largent, J.C. Watts, and (dare I say it) Newt Gingrich."

As if that weren't enough, they've also sold their home and purchased one which was built in 1905 (!!!)  "I now have plenty to do on the weekends.  It does make for good entertainment to watch me trying to fix something."  Still making plans for kids and grad school.

digiam.gif (25872 bytes) John Digiambattista:  At Bragg.  I think.
Farrington.gif (26076 bytes) Todd Farrington I got the following update from Todd in Nov 99...

Todd writes:  I spent a couple of years in Alaska with the 6th ID. When they downsized, I
went to The Old Guard at Ft Myer, VA. From there I went to Fort Drum to be
a G-3 Planner and got to spend time with Jan and her family. I finally had
too much fun and I left the Army in March 1997 and currently work as a
Project Manager for Schuff Steel Company in Phoenix, AZ. We design,
fabricate and erect structural steel buildings. (We built the Bank One Ball
Park for the AZ Diamondbacks and are working on the new Bronco stadium in
Denver). I did spend some time in Mexico and South America building some
industrial buildings, and enjoyed it immensely. I am currently getting a
Master degree in International Management from Thunderbird in Phoenix.
Shaunda and I are doing great! We have a son named Benjamin who will be
four in December and a six month old baby girl named Morgan. We recently
visited my parents in Florida and saw Drew and Amy- they are doing great and
have a new addition to their family!

I received an email from Todd April 14th, 2000.   Todd writes:
...Shaunda and I are moving back to Alaska. I am a project manager for a company called US Fabrication and Erection based in Anchorage. Still the same job I was doing in Phoenix. We fabricate and erect large structural steel buildings. We are still moving
so I don't have a home number or address yet.

Shaunda is doing well. I have a son named Benjamin who is 4 and a daughter named Morgan who will by one year old in May.

Everyone is doing great. I haven't spoken to anyone else but Tomasi, he almost convinced to work for P&G!

TheFess.gif (25438 bytes) Jan (Fessel) Heffernan:  Married (Mark) with one daughter.  Fess spent hYoungFess.jpg (72804 bytes)er military time in Korea (with myself and Lew Baker), Ft. Stewart (w/ Lynch), Ft. Campbell (w/ Baker, again...) and on to Ft. Drum (w/ Farrington).  While at Drum she was accepted to go back to USMA to teach econ after doing an MBA.  She headed to Wharton to check out the B-School (where she was hosted by our own Tom Innis), and subsequently decided (wisely) that an MBA wasn't a prudent use of two years of her time.

Jan and Mark both left the service in March of 97, and headed back to Indiana (metropolis of Floyds Knobs) jobless and homeless - living with Jan's parents.  Jan is now with GE, where they've instituted a total-quality cult called six-sigma.  The gospel is spread through the company via process engineering gurus called "Black Belts" which is what the Fess is now.  Just bought a house in Indiana, Mark is now in Florida going to (civilian) flight school, and Janice has just entered kindergarten.

Fess Update, July 2000:  Jan writes:  I'm still at GE and Mark's working at ASA and Janice finished 1st Grade (she's 6 and a half). I'm still trying to figure out what my third career will be. ...We also have a garden and have cucumbers, watermelon, corn, beans, tomatoes, peppers, etc.

Check out Young Fess.  How's that for a mirror image?

Filburn.gif (26456 bytes) Troy Filburn:
Grahambo.gif (27024 bytes)  Ric Graham :  Grahambo is going to law school at the University of Washington.  He's married (Christa) with a little girl (Sarah) and another on the way in November.  Ric writes: "I graduate next June and am desperately seeking a job.  Otherwise, find me in the yellow pages under ambulance, and the landlord will find my bones when he shows up with the eviction notice."  Still king of the one-liners after all these years.

Grahambo update, 27 June 99:  Thought I'd give you a website update. I finally got a job as a judicial law clerk in a federal court in -- DES MOINES, IA! That should keep me occupied for a year, but I'm still on the look out for gainful employment after that. My second daughter, Helene, was born on Nov. 1st, 98. Email account is lifelong at U of W, but will get a second address at the court. That's it for now. Have to study for this @$^%^#$% BAR EXAM!!

Griswold.gif (24786 bytes) Jack Griswold:  I received the following update from Jack on 2 October 2000:

Quick update:  Professionally, if I'm allowed to use that word when talking about myself, I've recently been promoted to Manager, Software Engineering and Statistical Analysis for the American Red Cross - National Testing and Reference Laboratories located in Charlotte, NC. I've got a place with my sister, nothing fancy, at Myrtle Beach and any Bandit in the area is welcomed to use it - just let me know so I can ensure the schedule's open.

My contact info:

I'll keep checking out the site and try to get in touch with some of the other bums.

SmallNew.jpg (1369 bytes)Griswold Update, 21 Nov 2001:  Great seeing everyone at the reunion, wish the others could have joined us. Can't believe Pat is going to be a doctor - pretty scary....Went to a Furman University reunion in Greenville, SC, and tried to hook up with Shane - no success....Here's a picture of my latest fly-fishing venture in the NC Mountains, Nov-2001.

Hecker.gif (25318 bytes) Bill Hecker Married (Richelle) w/ two daughters:  Alley, and a new addition as of 29 September - I don't have her name yet.  Bill is currently in Bosnia, and will PCS to the University of Oregon for MA in English Literature...from there on to West Point to teach for three years.  For those of you who don't know, Bill is now Ric Graham's  brother in law.  How's that for a family tree...

Heckers.jpg (29274 bytes)15 Jun 99.  Hecker sends an update:  All continues to go well here.  Managing to hold a 3.8 with 1/4 the effort expended while I was in command.  Frees me to fish salmon, steelhead & trout while I'm still in the NW and follow the St. Louis Cardinals obsessively.  I arrive at USMA July 2000.  Since I'll be the only Bandit there (I think) I hereby offer my services as 10th anniversary reunion point man for the company.

The photo was taken October 1998 near Konstane, Germany.  The kids are Allie (3) and Torie ( pictured @ 3 weeks, now 10 months).  Thank god they got mom's looks.

Hecker Update, July 2000:  Bill writes:  I am currently enroute to USMA to join the English department. Graduated June 10 from the U of Oregon with an MA in English. GPA 3.84, thesis title "Mined Country": The American Poetry of the Second World War. In addition to that I have joined the staff of Kirkus Reviews as a book reviewer for Military History and poetry. It's good for beer money.

We lucked out and got 4 BR Major's quarters. Our guest room will go first to Grahambo (as he is my brother in law) but if he fails to show for the reunion, it will be firts come-first serve for a free place to stay. I volunteer my quarters for a party during the reunion as well
.

Here's the plan for the reunion:  drunken keg party at Hecker's house.

Hribar.gif (26064 bytes) Bob Hribar Bob sends a report from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, where he is teaching ROTC.  Before that he was a battery commander and assistant S-3 in an MLRS battalion (6-37FA) at Camp Stanley, Korea from 96-98.  From graduation to 96 he was in lovely Lawton Oklahoma.  Bob writes...

"Bill, Tomasi, Drew and I served for awhile at Ft. Sill, and, us all being artillerymen, attended at least one St. Barbara's Day together.  However, we were also in attendance in a solemn moment.  Chris Williams (B-3 '88) was tragically killed when an A-10 dropped a bomb early on a bomb run striking his HMMWV, July 1995.  His driver was left with injuries, but survived.  We attended his memorial service at Ft. Sill.

I managed to get my MBA from Oklahoma City University in 1995.  Graduation wasn't all that happy, for the graduation site had to be moved following the Oklahoma City bombing.  The planned site was being used as a morgue.

Besides that, I am still single, and no kids that I know of.  I will be getting engaged in the near future.  No $300 cats or dogs or barnyard animals."

Puna.gif (23956 bytes) Tom "Puna" Innis:  Tom had the good fortune of serving with me in Hawaii, where we played rugby together on the Hawaii Harlequins and enjoyed frequent three-day weekends.   Tom got out in 1994 and went to work for Kidder Peabody, a firm which promptly collapsed upon Puna's arrival.  After a stint with Paine Webber he headed of to Wharton to do his MBA, which he's just completed, and will be working for a consulting firm in San Francisco.  Tom spent the summer trekking through East Africa and South America, and has recently reemerged.

To the best of my knowledge he still hasn't washed that towel.

ChrisTomLew (20753 bytes)Puna News: First of all, Tom is on a client in Houston (my current home) and is therefore spending Mon-Thurs in the great state of Texas.  He is thrilled about this, especially the fact that we get to spend quality time together.

But the big news is that he's engaged to be married (which puts a hurdle in my plans for us to be roommates once again, but nothing I can't handle).  His fiancé is named Rola Yamini, and is an attorney in San Francisco.  I'm planning to visit the blushing couple over Memorial Day Weekend, and the wedding is scheduled for next summer.

Innis Updaterolaandpuna.jpg (24328 bytes):Puna gets married!
Tom was married on Saturday July 29 to Miss Rola Yamini in San Francisco.  In attendance were myself, Lew Baker, Chad Michaelson ('91), Michael Purpura ('91), and Jacob Garcia ('92).

Tom "Cool Cucumber" Innis was indeed looking a bit nervous on the occasion, but in the end performed with his usual grace.  Good luck Rola and Tom!

Question:  How did this guy manage to snag such a good looking bride?  Who would have figured?
