Roll Call:  Lynch to Zehnder

o Return

Lynch.gif (24774 bytes) Pat Lynch Big news from Pat Lynch, who is now (this isn't a typo) in medical school at the University of Illinois.  Pat is now married, which is a good thing because his wife supported him through pre-med.  He writes of the experience "...I pulled a Fessel in all my classes at Eastern which didn't prove to be all that difficult considering that when my 19 and 20 year old classmates bothered to show up for class they were either drunk or hungover.  In other words, I got along great with them.  By the grace of God, I somehow slipped into the U. of I's medical school.  Actually, I think I just charmed the admissions committee with my boyish, yet slightly rugged good looks."  Vintage Lynch.

No kids.  Two dogs.  $300 cat who is dead.

Above:  Young Lynch (aka Sean aka Critti) says "Yo Everybody! PEACE!!   This is me and Dad kickin' it!" The kid has attitude.

Note:  Beefcake photo ruined by dribble-towel and unsightly armpit.

Morrow.gif (23987 bytes) Dave Morrow:  Dave has been married for five years - his wife's name is Kelly Ann.  No kids yet, just a spoiled cat.  He recently completed his company command at Fort Hood and will PCSing to Fort Polk next month where he will be an OC at JRTC.  Dave went to IOAC with Derrick Wright and Todd Farrington, and completed the Bradley Leader Course with Shane Zhender in 1995.

SmallNew.bmp (1954 bytes)23 Jun 2001:Morrow writes:  Chris after two beautiful, culturally enriching years at Fort Polk, LA - we are leaving. Kelly Ann will miss all the rednecks, road kill and long drives to shopping malls but it is that time to move.

Actually we are PCSing to Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton OH where I'll go to grad school at the Air Force Institute of Technology [Nuclear Engineering]. We are looking forward to the move and the different assignment.

Hope to see everyone at the reunion.

Popson.gif (25431 bytes) Drew Popson:  Popson reports!!!  ...I'm alive and well and living in S. Florida. Aimee (you met her at Todd's wedding - in fact Todd introduced us) and I have 2 beautiful girls, they definitely take after their mother thank God. Saige is 5 and a big Kindergartener and Kali (pronounced Kay-Lee) just turned 3 last week. I got out at 5 years and am now on my second civilian company. Spent the first 2+ years selling A/C ductwork to contractors and engineers, and now I'm selling lab products to scientific and production labs with a company called VWR Scientific Products. One more semester left to go on my MBA here locally at Nova Southeastern University...

Drew promises that some photos of the Popson brood are in the mail...they'll soon be posted for your viewing pleasure.

Kendell.gif (26682 bytes) Ken Phillips:  Ken recently sent me a brief history of the past 8+ years...

KenInAlaska.jpg (45046 bytes)After flight school, (where the Yunster and I were roommates again) I did my PL time and assorted staff jobs in the Cav @ Carson. While stationed there, I met my wife Aimee (we were married in Oct of 94). Since, I really fell for the mountains and all the assorted activities that go along with living here, I vowed to come back on day. Also spent some time deployed to Somalia while assigned to Carson, nice place you should visit sometime (not). From there it was back to advance course and off to Korea (unaccompanied) where I commanded. Ran into Terry while I was there, but lost track after I went back to states. From Korea it was off to Hood as the III Corps G-3 Air. Based on the ensuing deployment to Bosnia, and my disdain for the Army's habit of separating me from my family for extending periods of time, we decided that it was time to call it quits. Back to Colorado we went where I briefly went to work for a Real Estate development company in Colorado Springs. While visiting a friend in Boulder, I ran into an old West Point bud and he convinced me to come work with a new telecommunications start up(Level 3 Communications) just outside of Boulder. That is where we have been ever since. The company is growing like wild fire and the timelines are always short, thus the work hours are pretty long but I am still having lots of fun. Aimee and I currently have one daughter, Cheyenne, who has her first birthday this week.I still keep in touch with Shane occasionally. He is out of the Army and working as a sales engineer with a company called Copperweld out of Tennessee. He is married with one daughter, 4 or 5 I believe. If you or any of the other bandits are coming to the mountains to ski(or for any other reason) I would expect you to drop a line so we could get together. Take care and have fun...

Porter.gif (27489 bytes) Yolanda Porter:
CSmith.gif (26533 bytes) Bird2.jpg (17039 bytes) Chris Smith I'm now in Bogotá Colombia; I've been here since November and will be in country for at least one year, probably two.  I'm with Texaco and am working in new business development, Latin America.

Military-wise, after serving in Korea (w/ Baker, Brooks, and Fess) and Hawaii (w/ Puna and Morrow) I left the service in November of '93 and headed to NYC, and was living in the YMCA for a while when all job/school opportunities fell through (that's not a joke).  I ended up getting a job with Citibank, then getting transferred to London.  I left the bank to do an MBA at Cambridge, which I finished in 1997.  After finishing I spent a year backpacking around South America, and ended up finding a job with Texaco in Venezuela.  I spent a little more than a year in the Houston office before getting shipped off to South America.

TexasOilman.jpg (48760 bytes)If anyone happens to be passing through this part of the world please send me an email.  The political situation here is a bit squirrelly, as you might imagine, but I'm having lots of fun.

Here's a pic of me on vacation in Mongolia (check the Army hat), and in my new reincarnation as an oilman.

Also: briefly revived my boxing career for a three fight season while at Cambridge: Sandhurst (W), Royal Navy (L), Oxford (W). CadetPerez.jpg (23160 bytes)

new_tiny.gif (144 bytes)Right:  My cousin Cadet Emily Perez, Company H-4, Class of 2005, marching in her acceptance day parade.  How many of you guys have a beanhead cousin?  Huh?  That's what I thought.

Fatboy.gif (25998 bytes) Ed Sudzina:  I heard from Easy-E/Special Ed/Fatboy shortly after the 5 year reunion - at the time he was working on a political campaign (imagine that) in Michigan and has since taken a job for Prudential.  Send me an update Eddie S.
Tomasi.gif (26013 bytes) Dave TomasiTomasi has settled in Cincinnati and taken a job in brand management for P&G - both he and Maryle got their MBA's at night before Dave got out.  Three kids: Brianna (3) and Kevin & Steven (1)...(twins!!!).  This is an old photo from Dave's wedding that I happened to have.
Traczyk.gif (27251 bytes) Tom Traczyk:
Weisner.gif (25537 bytes) Randy Weisner Randy reports in from Kuwait - he's currently the ARCENT-KU S-1, having recently completed his command of an Infantry company in the 504th at Bragg - headed next summer back to Fort Irwin to be an OC.  Still enjoying the single life, and reports that he almost got in a fight at Pat Lynch's wedding for making a pass at someone's girlfriend.

28 May '99.  Weisner writes:  Felt compelled to drop you a line since my life's about to take a major upswing. I'm set to wed Candace Marie Underwood on July 4th back up at  school.  I know it's a serious stretch to actually picture me married, but hey, it's not that big of a stretch. Of course my fellow Bandits have an open invitation to attend if you happen to be in the neighborhood. Cadet Chapel at 1'oclock. Open bar at the Thayer following the ceremony.

Kim Whittington:  No info on Kim, other than that she's finished Med School and was/is at Bragg.
Wright.gif (24917 bytes) Derrick Wright:  Wright reports!!!........You saw me last in Korea in the 503d Infantry with Lew. I left there in '93 and went to the 1st Ranger Battalion at HAAF in Savannah, Ga.  I did PL and XO time there, and got married on my way to the Advanced Course in '95. My wife's name is Cindy (also a Texan), and we have two kids. Jonathan is 7, Hannah is 20 months, and we're due with a boy in July. Needless to say, life is never dull. I absolutely love it.  From Benning, we went down to Eglin Air Force Base in Florida to the 6th Ranger Training Battalion. There I was Assistant S-3, a Ranger Instructor, and a Company Commander. Great assignment all the way around. We headed up here to Fort Bragg in Sep '98 for the AC/RC assignment I'm in now. I'm the S-4, and this is no Ranger Battalion...The latest is that I'm chest deep in the job hunt right now, as I'll be hanging up my jungle boots and going back to Texas this summer. That's right, I decided (during some serious soul-searching while at CAS3 this January) that I didn't want to be away from my family anymore. We're working EXTREMELY hard to get back to Austin. Wish me luck.

Derrick has reported run-ins with fellow Bandits Brooks and DiGiam there at Bragg, as well as a Lew Baker close encounter in April.   He's promised to send some pics of the Wright brood soon...I'm sure they're all little miniature Derricks.

Yunster.gif (26149 bytes) Terry Ji-Won Yun Terry is engaged to be married next April 28th in Korea.  His fiancé is named Yooie, and is a USC grad working in Seoul for Chase Manhattan Bank.  Terry sends the following report:

Managed to get selected for Apache helicopter transition out of flight school then the YunsterAndYooie.jpg (19532 bytes)Army shipped me off to Germany for three years.  After the Aviation Officer's Advanced Course in '96,  I was off again to an overseas assignment, this time to the motherland, South Korea.   Successfully commanded an Apache helicopter troop for 16 months; didn't crash anything and didn't get shot at by the North Korean commies.  I am currently serving my utilization tour as a project manager of small unmanned aerial vehicle with the Joint Projects Office for Cruise Missiles / Unmanned Aerial Vehicle here at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, MD.  What does this all mean? Well, I officially declined a nomination to the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey so I am sure that the Army is not overly excited nor are they expecting me to stick around for much longer.  Getting ready to apply for MBA programs in the Northeast.

Yun News:  Terry and Yooie were married on April 24th in Seoul.  He soon will be bidding farewell to life in green and headed off to Carnegie Mellon to pursue his MBA.  Good luck, Yooie and Terry....

Yun Update, July 2000:  Terry is currently in Hong Kong doing an internship with Goldman Sachs.

Zhender.gif (27116 bytes) Shane Zehnder:  Miracle of miracles.....contact from Zehnder!!!!Shane.jpg (8254 bytes)

12 July, 2000,   Shane writes:  When I got out I took a position with a company in Tennessee called Copperweld as a Field Sales Engineer (where I did international sales), eventually got promoted to product manager, and 3 months ago accepted a position in Greenville, SC with Alcoa (ticker symbol AA) as Commercial Manager. I know, it's incredibly frightening to think Shane Zehnder has all profit and loss responsibility for a business unit, but it's true. Been married for something like 6 years now to a girl from Houston (Wright will like that), and have one daughter, Rachel, who is 4 and have a son on the way. He's due any day now.               Heather.jpg (24321 bytes)
