What is One With Nature?

One With Nature (OWN) is a practical program that combines Eastern and Western approaches to wellness. Its goal is to help people become "One With Nature," a Buddhist term for the natural restoration of true health. OWN is practiced in conjunction with the Chinese martial art of Tai Chi rewarding the practitioner with inner happiness, self-control, self-realization, and self-healing. The basic instruction of for OWN is to focus on: Relaxation, Breathing, Feeling the Earth, and Doing Nothing Extra. All the elements must be present and must work together in a unique form of moving meditation:

OWN = Relax + Breathe + Feel the Earth + Do Nothing Extra

To relax completely, breathe, feel the earth, and do nothing extra with your whole body.

To breathe fully, feel the earth, and do nothing extra with your whole body.

To feel the earth fully, relax, breathe, and do nothing extra with your whole body.

To do nothing extra, relax, breathe, and feel the earth with your whole body.

OWN Meditation

OWN meditation allows you to calm your mind and relax your body. Because you are not moving during OWN meditation, you'll be able to feel all the OWN good feelings more strongly throughout the time you meditate. As you become OWN, your mind settles down into its natural, uncluttered, unfettered state. Inner happiness can be attained in this state. When you feel your inner breath in every part of your body, you will experience inner happiness, a state that comes from within.

Meditation is a way to gain self-control. When you practice tai chi, you also gain self-control by learning how to do nothing extra physically. When you meditate, however, you can gain self-control by learning how to do nothing extra mentally. Because meditation directly involves the mind, it is an effective way to gain control of your mind. And with this greater control, you can also gain inner happiness and let go of unpleasant thoughts. By using the inner breath during meditation, you can heal the body at the same time.

1. Sit comfortably on a firm chair with knees bent at a 90 degree angle. Place your feet on the floor parallel to each other, shoulder's width apart. Place your palms gently on your knees.

2. Relax, breathe, feel the earth, and do nothing extra.

3. You can also sit comfortably on a cushion or pillow on the floor with legs crossed, and place the left hand on the right palm in front of the abdomen.

4. Close the eyes gently to feel the inner breath as you exhale through the mouth.

5. Loosen your back while keeping it straight.

6. Think nothing extra.

7. Relax the face, neck, shoulders, arms, wrists, fingers, legs, ankles, and toes.

8. If a thought appears, practice the four OWN elements (Relax, Breathe, Feel the Earth, Do Nothing Extra) and feel the inner breath again.
