Welcome to the Cult of the Great Serpent. I'm Rosey, the High Priestess. This web site is the home of the worshippers of the Serpent and is the primary site for recruitment information. Come on in. Relax. Take a rodent for your snake companion and then help yourself to some brownies and tea.
The Snake Cult used to meet at our secret mountain fortress, which we built at the newsgroup alt.sex.snakes. Unfortunately, this newsgroup was destroyed by sex-ad spammers, who can't tell the difference between an actual sex newsgroup and a group of religious cultists who've taken over an abandoned newsgroup. Those snake worshippers who survived the sex-spammer assault built a new fortress on the Snake Cult mailing list. To subscribe, send e-mail to the list admin. Once you have subscribed to the mailing list, you can send your posts to fortress@mayhem.snakecult.org. If you'd like to contact the High Priestess directly, feel free to e-mail me.
Our group exists to honor the Great Serpent, within whose egg exists the entire universe. Certain major western religions declared The Serpent to be a great evil, for having given humans the fruit of knowledge. The assertion that being able to think for oneself is bad, and the acknowledgement that The Serpent helped us aquire this ability, have caused snakes to be unjustly hated and reviled. We, the followers of The Great Serpent, believe that we owe a great debt to the Serpent, because we've allowed a great wrong to be propagated. Living snakes, the representatives of the Great Serpent, inhabit the Earth to remind us of our debt to the Serpent. We repay our debt to the Serpent by caring for her living representatives, attempting to dispel the negative attitudes that many hold toward snakes, and speaking out against disgusting and abusive behavior toward these most wonderful of creatures. We also have a variety of rituals and celebrations to honor the Great Serpent.
The major holiday of the cult is Snake Day, which is on June 7th (It's observed on December 7th in the Southern Hemisphere due to weather conditions). On Snake Day, the Great Serpent is honored by snake worshippers writhing naked and hissing in the streets. View a snake worshipper performing the Ritual of Nude Writhing.
I feel I must clarify a common misconception which has arisen due to our Ritual of Nude Writhing and the photo representation of this ritual. Our cult is not devoted to nude photos of people with snakes, nor is the snake handling intended for the sexual pleasure of the snake handler or of any who view the handling. The Writhing is a SOLEMN RELIGIOUS RITUAL honoring the Great Serpent.

The Oroboros is a symbol sacred to snake worshippers.
Come meet some of the other cult members, and sign our guestbook so they can meet you !

Even though it has nothing to do with snakes, my sister insisted that I include
a link to her favorite newsgroup, alt.buddha.short.fat.guy.
Tell them High Priestess Rosey sent you. And be sure to tell them that you support
changing the newsgroup name to alt.buddha.short.fat.snake-worshippers.
