Question for October 01, 2002:
Question: Name the virus. The lesion (Figure #1) is a spindle cell proliferation in the lung. Viral testing by RTISPCR yielded a signal in the spindle cells but not in the adjacent pulmonary tissue. Can you identify what virus this must be, as well as provide the logical clinical information?
HINT - A good knowledge of surgical pathology will be needed to get the correct answer.
