January's Young People's LP#1 - Kidd's Fish & Chips

After the basketball game Friday night, Cliff and three friends stopped at Kidd’s Fish & Chips to get something to eat. Each order a different meal off the menu, which included the meat as well as fries, hush puppies, and a drink of their choice. Each ordered a different meal (listed below) from the menu - a #1, #2, #3, or #4. From the clues, determine the meal ordered by each person and the type of drink they ordered with their meal (one ordered iced tea).

#1 Fish Fillets
#2 Fish Fillets & Shrimp
#3 Fish Fillets & Chicken
#4 Chicken & Shrimp

1. Neither David nor Jack ordered the #4 meal.

2. The person who ordered the #3 meal drank an orange slush.

3. The person who drank a root beer ordered a meal that had more than one type of meat with it.

4. David didn’t order either an orange slush or a root beer with his meal.

5. Greg didn’t order a meal with shrimp.

6. The person who ordered the #4 asked for a limeade with his meal.

January's Young People's LP#2 - Pizza Toppings

After band practice one afternoon, four friends - Amy, Breanne, Callie, and Diane stopped at the Pizza Parlor to partake of one of their favorite foods - pizza! Each ordered a different personal pan pizza - Canadian bacon, hamburger, pepperoni, or sausage. Each girl also ordered a different second topping for her pizza - bell peppers, olives, onions, or mushrooms. From the clues, determine the type of pizza ordered by each girl and the extra topping each ordered.

1. Amy ordered a hamburger personal pan pizza.

2. Diane, who ordered a sausage pizza, wasn’t the girl who also wanted olives on her pizza.

3. Callie didn’t order mushrooms as a topping for her pizza.

4. Neither Breanne nor the girl who ordered the Canadian bacon pizza like olives.

5. The girl who had a pepperoni personal pan pizza isn’t the girl who ordered either onions or mushrooms on her pizza.

January's Young People's LP#3 - Lawn Mowing Treasures

Michael Moyer keeps up his own lawn moving service, and during the summer, he mows a different lawn each morning - Monday through Friday, and has five regular customers. He also likes to take along his metal detector and at the request of the owner, he will go over the lawn once mowed and look for any item which might have been lost during the winter. On the first day of mowing this past summer, each owner (including Mr. Barnes) asked him to look for a different item - a charm from the owner’s daughters’ charm bracelet, a class ring belonging to the owner’s son, an extra garage key the owner misplaced, a money clip belonging to the owner’s brother, and the wedding ring belonging to the owner’s wife.

This year, Michael found each lost item on the very first day! From the clues, determine the day of the week Michael mows for each family, and the item each owner asked Michael to look for on this first day of mowing this year.

1. Michael mowed the Landau’s lawn exactly three days before moving the O’Neil’s lawn.

2. It was the extra garage key that Michael was asked to look for the day after he mowed the Huntington’s lawn.

3. It was on Friday that Michael found the missing wedding ring belonging to the owner’s wife.

4. On three consecutive days Michael found the item belong to a member of Mr. Jerowsky’s family, the money clip, and the class ring.

January's Young People's LP#4 - The Ice Cream Man

Five children were visiting the travelling bookmobile parked in the school’s parking lot after school (see logic problem at my pet site at Pet Gallery for which book was checked out by each child) when the Ice Cream Man pulled into the lot. It was a hot day, and each child headed for the ice cream truck after leaving the bookmobile (each left in a different order - first through fifth). Each child (Candy, Fiona, and Lynn are girls and, Jason and Tristan are boys) bought a different flavored ice cream bar - butterscotch chip, chocolate, chocolate chip, strawberry, or vanilla. From the clues, determine each child’s first name and last name (one is Burkett) of each child, the order in which child left the bookmobile and the type of ice cream bar each child bought.

1. Fiona left the bookmobile immediately after the child surnamed Alderson and immediately before the child who bought a butterscotch chip ice cream bar.

2. Cindy Dubois was the third child to exit the bookmobile and head for the Ice Cream Man’s truck.

3. Tristan and the boy surnamed Tragg (who bought a strawberry ice cream bar) were the last two of the five children to leave the bookmobile.

4. The girl surnamed Schmidt, who is allergic to chocolate, bought his or her ice cream bar before the child who bought the chocolate ice cream bar.

5. Jason left the bookmobile before at least one other child.
