Recently, our six ClueJo characters (Dr. Gray, Inspector Black, Lady Melon, Miss Lavender, Mrs. Bluebell, and Sir Sable) visited the U.S. to spend some time with their Clue friends. While there, the group attended a hot air balloon show and each Clue character arranged for a ride in one of the balloons. It turned out that the group was able to go up at the same time, and one Clue character and one ClueJo character rode in each balloon. No Clue character rode in a balloon whose colors are associated with his or her name (Col. Mustard-yellow, Mr. Green-green, Miss Scarlet-red, Mrs. Peacock-blue, Mrs. White-white, and Prof. Plum-purple). Balloons are red and blue, blue and yellow, green and white, yellow and red, purple and green, and white and purple.
From the clues, determine which balloon (lettered A through F) each pair rode in. Note. From the illustration, the positions of the balloons show two balloons riding very high, two fairly high, and two closer to the ground. Left and Right are as illustrated.
1. Each Clue character was accompanied by a ClueJo companion of the opposite gender.
2. The red and blue balloon was in position A. Inspector black rode in balloon C. Mrs. White rode in balloon E.
3. The balloon in which Dr. Gray rode reached a higher altitude than the balloon in which Mrs. Peacock was a passenger.
4. The balloon in which Miss Scarlet rode was further left and at a higher altitude than the balloon in which Mrs. Peacock rode (which did not have purple in its design).
5. Prof. Plum and Mrs. Bluebell rode together in one balloon, but not in either balloon A or F.
6. Both balloons with the color blue in their designs were further left than both the balloons with the purple in their designs.
7. One of the two balloons with the color yellow in its design is the balloon is position D in the illustration.
8. Col. Mustard and his fellow passenger and Miss Lavender and her fellow passenger rode in balloons which attained the same altitude.
9. The balloon in position B either had yellow in its design or purple in its design, but not both.
10. One of the colors in the design of the balloon in which Sir Sable was a passenger was the same as one of the colors in the design of the balloon in which Lady Melon was a passenger.

Valentine’s Day falls on Saturday this year, and on Valentine’s Day and the four day preceding it (Tuesday through Friday), Everett took a different female family member out to dinner and also bought each one a gift - box of chocolates, gift certificate to the woman in question favorite store, a dozen roses, a lovely potted plant, and tickets to a new play. He took each woman - including his wife Sharon, daughter Megan, sister Donna, mother Wilma, and grandmother Sarah, out to eat at her favorite restaurant - each of which served a different ethnic food - Chinese, French, Hungarian, Italian, or Mexican.
From the clues, determine to which restaurant Everett took each woman on each day and which valentine’s gift each received.
1. Everett escorted Megan out on an evening early in the week than the evening where Mexican food was the menu for the evening, which was earlier in the week than when he presented a loved one with a dozen long-stemmed red roses.
2. The evening Everett and his female companion ate at an Italian restaurant (which wasn’t the evening his gift was a potted plant of beautiful African violets) was sometime later in the week than when he took his mother out to dine.
3. Everett present one woman with a box of chocolates earlier in the week that when he and Sharon ate out and sometime later in the week than when French fare was the dinner choice for the evening.
4. Everett and his mother ate supper out one evening earlier in the week than the evening he escorted his grandmother out to dine.
5. One female family member opted for Chinese food and this was at least two days before Everett escorted one lady (but not Megan) to dinner to whom he presented tickets to a new play as a valentine’s gift.
6. Either Sharon or Sarah chose a Hungarian restaurant on the night they dined with Everett, while the other selected to dine at a French restaurant.
7. Donna received neither the tickets to a play nor did she chose an Italian restaurant at which to dine.

Recently, Stefano’s eccentric Uncle Silus Malvern came across a very old manuscript describing the adventures of five men and their adventures in exploring a land known as Tyberia. Stefano and his uncle poured over the manuscript and was never able to confirm the existence of the Land of Tyberia, for unfortunately, of the five brave adventurers, none of them completely succeeded in completing their journey and mapping the land. Each man - Alban, Erling, Garibald, Haig, and Hamish spent a different number of days (63, 81, 99, 117, or 135) exploring the land before he encountered a problem which put an end to his adventures - and with one man the end was permanent! Each man was a different age when he started out on his adventure - 37, 38, 39, 40, or 41.
From the clues, determine the name of each adventurer, the age of each when he started his journey, the number of days each lasted exploring Tyberia, and the reason each man’s adventure ended. Note: Dragons and Orcs are considered monsters.
1. One adventurer (whose trip was at least 19 days shorter than that of Hamish) ran into a dragon and was killed.
2. Neither the dashing adventurer Hamish nor the man killed by the dragon was 40 years of age. The journey of the man who was 40 years of age was longer than that of the man killed by the dragon.
3. One young man (whose name is longer than the man who was attacked by Orcs) was poisoned by the fruit of a beautiful tree. Alas, how was he to know it was poisoned, but he got so sick he had to cut his adventurers short and return home.
4. The adventurers of one man was cut short when he was burnt in a forest fire, which unfortunately he started himself while cooking his evening meal. His travels were shorter than that of the youngest of the five adventurers.
5. Erling and the man whose journey ended after 63 days were both attacked by monsters. Both were younger than Garibald and the man who barely escaped from a saber-cat who was protecting her cubs (who wasn’t Haig).
6. Hamish was one year younger than the adventurer who met the dragon, who surprised the man as he exited a desolate cave after exploring it.
7. The poisoned man’s name is shorter than the name of the man whose adventures lasted 81 days.
