Saturday morning was a busy time for Clifford Wiggins who drove the village’s only taxi cab. Clifford picked up his first passenger, Prof. Plum, at the Botanical Gardens and took him to his destination, where he picked up a second passenger, and went on to another destination. Clifford continued in this fashion until he dropped off his sixth passenger at the bus station before he took his lunch break. Clifford did not return to any location during the morning where any of his previous fares had been picked up. During the trip from one destination to another, Mr. Wiggins and his passenger (all of whom he knew as they were regular fares) talked on a different subject.
From the clues, determine the subject Clifford and each of his fares discussed (one subject was Monday night’s football game), as well as the pick-up point and destination of each passenger.
1. Clifford dropped off one passenger, with whom he had picked up at the museum and with whom he had chatted about the new theater due to open on Valentine’s Day, and picked up Mrs. Peacock.
2. When Clifford dropped off Miss Scarlet (who wasn’t the woman picked up at Court House and taken to the YMCA) he picked up Dr. Gray.
3. Lady Melon’s destination was Chelsea’s Restaurant, and the woman he picked up at Chelsea’s restaurant was the one which whom Clifford enjoyed a short talk about Martha Grime’s newest book, The Grave Maurice.
4. Clifford and Mrs. Bluebell chit-chatted about some New Year’s Resolutions they had made, but this wasn’t right after Clifford had driven Prof. Plum to his destination.
5. Dr. Gray and Clifford did not discuss the birth which occurred on January 1 at 12:01 AM of the 2003 New Year’s Baby.
6. Miss Scarlet (with whom Clifford discussed the newest release of the "Lord of the Rings" movie) was either the fare picked up at or dropped off at the shopping mall.

On New Year’s Day, Everett and the men in the family watched football on TV all day and got little else done. However, it was a great trade-off for the women in the family as they all went out to eat at the town’s newest, and most expensive restaurant, the night before. Each woman had visited a different hair salon earlier that day and each had bought a new gown in a lovely pastel shade to wear.
During the meal, each woman (including Everett’s mother Wilma, his wife Sharon, daughter Megan, niece Julie, and two sisters-in-law, Donna and Lori) ordered a different main course (one was Chicken à la King) and splurged on a wonderfully fattening dessert. However, they were all home by midnight to bring in the New Year with the men in the family. From the clues, determine the color of dress worn by each woman, the salon each visited, and the entrée and dessert each ordered while out on the town!
1. The six women are Sharon, Julie, the one who wore the apricot gown, the one who visited Tresses Plus, the one who ordered Leg of Lamb as her main course, and the one who had Crêpe Suzette for dessert.
2. The woman who had her hair done at Shear Delight wasn’t the one who had Ambrosia Tapioca for dessert, and neither of these two women was the woman who wore the light blue gown.
3. The woman who wore the ecru gown ordered Angel Food Waldorf for dessert. The woman who wore the lime green gown ordered Shrimp Creole as her main course (whose choice for dessert wasn’t English Trifle).
4. Either Donna or Lori had the Lemon Cheesecake and the other ordered the Angel Food Waldorf for dessert, and one of these two women ordered Beef Stroganoff as her main course.
5. Megan (who didn’t order the English Trifle for dessert) isn’t the woman who visited the New Image Salon for her make over. Donna had her hair done at either The Cutting Edge or Kay’s Kuts & Kurls.
6. Neither the woman who visited the Mane Tamer nor the woman who visited Shear Delight ordered Crêpe Suzette for dessert, and none of these three women is the one who wore the lavender gown.
7. The woman whose main course was Filet Mignon wasn’t the woman who ordered English Trifle for dessert.
8. Either the woman who ordered Duckling à la Orange for her main course and Hazelnut Torte for dessert or the woman who had her hair styled at Shear Delight is Sharon, and the other woman is the woman who wore the pale yellow gown.
9. Lori, who had her hair styled at Kay’s Kuts & Kurls, is not the woman who wore the ecru gown.

Stefano loves to read, and over the years he has found that some of his co-workers, including Annalee, are also avid readers and Stefano learned what types of books each co-worker enjoyed reading most (one co-worker enjoys reading westerns). Even though the employees at Gordino’s Italian Restaurant, where Stefano has been Maìtre d’ for many years, draw names in a gift exchange for Christmas, on New Year’s Day, Stefano presented each of these five co-workers with a new book just released in the genre each preferred.
Although Stefano decorated each gift with ribbons and bows, he wrapped each book in a different type of wrapping as a little joke! From the clues, determine each co-worker’s name, his or her position at Gordino’s (accountant, assistant chef, head chef, hat check person, or reservations clerk), the genre of book each enjoys reading, and the type of wrapping Stefano used for each book.
1. Four of the five co-workers are Karen, the reservations clerk, the co-worker who enjoys reading books based on fantasy, and the co-worker to whom Stefano gave the book wrapped in pages from an old magazine.
2. Derek, who enjoys reading romance novels, is not the assistant chef (who received the novel which Stefano had wrapped in paper towels).
3. Stefano had wrapped the mystery novel in some gaudy flowered wall paper he had found in his attic.
4. The book Stefano presented to Isabel, who is not the head chef, was one he had painstakingly wrapped in strips from a brown paper bag.
5. The reservations clerk’s gift wasn’t wrapped in either strips from a brown paper bag or in aluminum foil (which wasn’t the wrapping around the biography).
6. Floyd, who is the hat check person, didn’t received the fantasy novel and he isn’t the one who got the gift wrapped in pages from a magazine.
