Recently, six friends who made up a team called the Clue Team, entered into a Tug-of-War contest held at the local sports arena. The six individuals - Dr. Gray, Inspector Black, Lady Melon, Miss Lavender, Mrs. Bluebell, and Sir Sable all arrived together, each wearing a white shirt with a caricature of his or her favorite Clue character depicted on the back of his or her shirt (Col. Mustard, Miss Scarlet, Mr. Green, Mrs. Peacock, Mrs. White, or Prof. Plum). No two individuals had the same caricature on the back of his or her shirt. Each signed up in a different order (first through sixth) and received the corresponding number - #1 through #6 - on a tag which was pinned to the front of his or her shirt.
To add to the festive feeling of the event, each wore a different type of hat - one was a straw gardening hat, and each hat was adorned with a different item - one had sprinkled and glued gold glitter all over his or her hat. When the time arrived for their team to come up for play, each got into line in no particular order (that is, the order in which each stood, one behind the other, did not necessarily match the number on his or her shirt).
From the clues, determine the order in line each team member stood, the number on each players shirt, the Clue character depicted on each players shirt, and the kind of hat (and its adornment) which each player wore.
1, Miss Lavender was the second person to sign in and stood in line somewhere ahead of both the individual who had adorned his or hat with service medals, and the individual who wore the ball cap (at least one of these two was a woman).
2. The individual who wore the hat with the ribbons stood somewhere behind both Mrs. Bluebell and the individual who wore the fedora (who stood somewhere in front of the person who wore the Stetson.
3. The fifth person in line (who wasn’t Inspector Black nor the person who wore the top hat) had signed up immediately before the person who wore flowers on his or her hat, who in turn had signed up immediately before Lady Melon (who didn’t wear the top hat).
4. Three members of the Clue Team are the person who wore ribbons on his or her hat (who wasn’t last in line), the person who wore the #4 on the back of his or her shirt, and the person whose shirt depicted a caricature of Miss Scarlet (who wasn’t last in line).
5. Inspector Black (who was neither the fifth person to sign up nor the fifth person in line) isn’t the individual who wore the Stetson (who also had Prof. Plum depicted on the back of his or her shirt).
6. Four people who stood in consecutive order in the Tug of War line, from first to last, was the third person who signed in and sported feathers on her hat, Dr. Gray, the person’s whose shirt depicted a caricature of Mrs. White, and the person who wore the top hat (who didn’t have a caricature of Miss Scarlet on his or her shirt)..
7. The three women team members are the woman who was fourth in line, the woman who wore fishing lures on her hat, and the woman (who isn’t Lady Melon) whose shirt depicted Col. Mustard.
8. Mrs. Bluebell isn’t the person who wore the Panama (which wasn’t worn by the person whose favorite Clue character is Mrs. White).
9. The sixth and last person to finally sign up for the event wasn’t the person whose shirt had a caricature of Mr. Green depicted on the back of it.

It is quite a well-known fact that whenever Everett isn’t into creating a new computer game, he and his family like to travel and have a bit of fun. However, for their next upcoming vacation, no one had the least idea of where to go. While Everett did some work in the garden, his wife Sharon, his brother John and John’s wife Lori, and his brother Norman and Norman’s wife Sue, each visited a different travel agency where each picked up two brochures for possible vacation spots.
Each family member visited a different travel agency on a different day of the week (Monday through Friday) and each noted on his or her brochure which would be his or her first choice and his or her second choice. On Saturday, Everett and the other family members all sat down to go over the brochures and make their decisions (one person’s first choice for a vacation spot was the Ozarks, in Missouri and another person’s second choice for a vacation spot was Rec Deer Badlands in Canada).
From the clues, determine the day on which each family member visited a travel agency, the name of that travel agency, and the two brochures each brought home (as well as which was each individuals first and second choice for a vacation spot).
1. Sharon isn’t the family member who received her brochures from the North American Travel Agency.
2. The five family members are Lori (whose first choice of the vacation spots she selected was Rainbow Bridge, UT; the person who visited the World Travel Agency (whose first choice of the two vacations he or she selected brochures for was Mammoth Cave, KY); Sharon (whose second choice for a vacation was the Petrified Forest, AZ); the person who visited the Golden Plains Travel Agency (whose second choice of a vacation was Jewel Cave, S.D.); and the man who visited a travel agency on Tuesday.
3. The man who visited Blazing Trails Tours decided that Sleeping Bear Dunes in Michigan was his second choice.
4. Sue, whose second choice for a vacation spot was Chimney Rock, NE, visited a travel agency the day immediately before the woman whose first choice for a vacation spot was Devil’s Tower, WY.
5. The North American Travel Agency was visited the day immediately before the day that one family member had picked for his or her first choice Craters of the Moon, ID.
6. The First National Tours Agency was visited the day immediately before Norman visited a travel agency (which wasn’t on Thursday).

July 2002 Stefano Puzzle - Part I: Starting Out
Stefano had a weeks' vacation coming, so decided to do some things around his house on the weekends, and then to spend Monday through Friday doing some fishing. Each morning he left his home at 6:00 A.M. exactly and each day he headed for a different lake, each of which was exactly a one hour drive from his home. However, on each of the five day, he had some trouble with his car. Luckily he had the parts (if needed) to fix it, but as it was, instead of arriving at his destination at 7:00, he ran late, arriving at each lake at 7:30 AM, 7:35 AM, 7:50 AM, 8:15 AM, or 8:34 AM. From the clues, can you determine his destination on each day, the car trouble he had, and the time of arrival at each destination.
Note: This is a three part logic problem, but parts I and II stand alone. However, you will need to have the answers to the first two parts in order to solve the third part.
1. The day he visited Lake Ketchabiggun was not immediately before or immediately after the day he had to tighten a loose heater hose (which was on a day either immediately following or immediately preceding the day he visited Lake Lottawatta).
2. The day his radiator overheated (due to a radiator cap not tightened properly) and the day he visited Lake Wannahookum were on consecutive days during the week, in that order.
3. The day he had to recharge his battery (thanks to a passing motorist he got a jump) and the day he had the overheated radiator occurred on consecutive days, in some order. The day he had to get a jump to recharge his battery was not the day he arrived at his destination at 7:30 AM.
4. On two consecutive days, Stefano replaced a broken fan belt and had to tighten a loose heater hose.
5. Lake Okiedokie and Lake Lottawatta were Stefano’s destination on two consecutive days, in that order. The day he fished at Lake Lottawatta was either exactly two days after or exactly two days before he arrived at his destination at 8:40 AM.
6. The day Stefano reached his destination at 7:50 AM was sometime earlier in the week than the day he visited Lake Wannahookum, but sometime later in the week than when he had to change a flat tire (which was either the day immediately following or the day immediately preceding the day he fished at Lake Gottafishee).
7. On two consecutive days, he reached his destination at 7:35 AM and at 8:40 AM, in that order, and on two consecutive days he reached his destination at 7:30 AM and at 8:15 AM, in that order.

LAKE VISITED | CAR PROBLEMS | TIME ARRIVED |
After finally arriving at his destination on each day, he then preceded to rent a boat. However, even that proved to be a bit of a problem. The boat he rented on each day was a different color and had a different name. He should have known from the names of the boat that nothing was going to go right from the begining. Before he could actually get the boat out into the water, he had to report to the boat rental manager a minor problem that needed taken care of - one of which was to get another battery to replace the dead one in the boat.
By the time he actually got out on the lake, he was so upset that it wasn’t until later he realized that he had left something he’d brought with him in his car. From the clues, determine the color and name of the boat he rented on each day (one was the Trickle Tub), the problem with each boat, and the item he had left in his car (one day he forgot his lunch).
Note: This is a three part logic problem, but parts I and II stand alone. However, you will need to have the answers to the first two parts in order to solve the third part.
1. On three consecutive days he rented the red boat (which wasn’t the boat that didn’t have a life jacket on board), he rented a boat with the name Castaway painted on its side, and he left the insect repellent in his car.
2. The day he rented the Calamity Jane was sometime later in the week than when he had to have a drain plug replaced, and the day immediately before he rented the green boat.
3. The brown boat and the boat he rented on the day he forgot the sun blocker in his car were the day he had to have the drain plug replaced and the day he had to get the fishing line untangled from around the rudder, in some order.
4. On Monday (which wasn’t the day he forgot to bring along some extra fishing bobbers) and on the day he rented a boat named Jeopardy, Stefano found he had no gas in the boat and he had no life jacket in the boat, in some order.
5. Double Trouble was not the name of the white boat. Double Trouble isn’t the boat that had fishing line tangled up in the rudder nor was it the boat Stefano rented on Tuesday or Thursday.
6. It was on Friday (which isn’t the day he rented the Jeopardy) and on the day that Stefano left his sunglasses in the car that he had to get the fishing line untangled from the rudder and get a life jacket for his boat, in some order.
7. It was neither on Monday nor Friday that Stefano rented the green boat or the blue boat (which was not the Calamity Jane)

BOAT COLOR | BOAT NAME | BOAT PROBLEM | ITEM FORGOT IN CAR |
Regardless of all the problems Stefano encountered, he did manage to make it out onto the lake of choice each day where he spent an afternoon fishing. Each day, however, Stefano suffer some misfortune of some type. While he manage to catch some fish, each day, Monday through Friday, he also reeled in an unusual item (on one day he reeled in an old fishing hat).
Then, upon returning to the pier each day to check in his boat and prepare for the trip home, he was dismayed to find that he owed a fine for one thing or another - either he had one fish that was undersized, he had one fish over the limit allowed, he had a child’s life preserver which was considered as having none aboard as it didn’t fit him, he found when asked by the game warden who was there that he had brought along an old expired fishing license, or he had an open container of beer on board.
From the clues here and also the summary solutions from Parts I and II, can you determine the lake he was at when he suffered his mishap, the unusual object he reeled in each time, the amount of fine he paid ($15, $25, $35, $40, or $50), and what for?
1. On one day he was fined $35 for bringing in one fish over the allowed limit. This was earlier in the week than when he visited Lake Lottawatta.
2. The day he was fined for no life preserver (there was a child’s one on board, but it didn’t fit so was considered as having none at all) was the same day that he was dive bombed by some birds. This was later in the week than when he had the flat tire on his car and earlier in the week than when he rented to boat called Jeopardy.
3. The amount he paid in fines on the day he reeled in the bathing trunks (which looked so similar to his he checked to make sure his were still on!) was the day he paid the $25.
4. It was on a day that Stefano arrived at his destination sometime after 8:00 AM that he paid the $40. The day he fell in the lake (which was not on Monday) was either the day immediately before or the day immediately after the day he paid the $40 fine.
5. The day he paid only a $15 fine was later in the week than the day than he got a super-duper sunburn (which was the same day he reeled in an old boot), and earlier in the week than when he rented the green boat.
6. On two consecutive days (neither of which was a Tuesday) he was fined for having an expired fishing license and he got bite by a fish while taking it off his hook, in that order.
7. Stefano reeled in an old bicycle helmet (which gave him a good laugh as he tried to imagine how it got there!) while fishing at Lake Gottafishee (which was not the day he paid the highest fine).
8. It was funny, but he day he left the insect repellent in the car was not the day that he suffered from numerous insect bites (which was neither on Monday or Friday). Friday was not the day he was fined for keeping a fish that was under the regulation size (for which he paid the highest fine).
9. The day he reeled in the turtle shell was on a day he rented either the Castaway or the Calamity Jane, which was the day that his fine was less than is was on Thursday.
