Judy's Logic Problems

March 2001 ClueJo Puzzle - Sea Cruise

Last week Dr. Gray and his five closest friends all left on cruises. Each left on a different day of the week (Monday through Saturday) and each sailed on a different cruise line (one sailed on Camelot Cruise Lines) to a different group of islands. From the clues, can you determine the day of the week each sailed and which cruise line each sailed on, as well as the island group which was each person's destination (one was the Bahamas)?

1. The person who sailed on the Sunset Cruise Lines left the day immediately before Lady Melon but sometime later in the week than the person whose destination was the Sandwich Islands, which was sometime later than the departure of at least one other person.

2. Inspector Black (whose departure wasn't on Monday) left sometime earlier in the week than the person who sailed the Blue Ocean Lines, who left sometime earlier than the person who was on his or her way to the Azores.

3. Mrs. Bluebell, whose destination wasn't the Polynesian Islands, wasn't the person who sailed on the Sea Princes Cruise Lines.

4. Saturday wasn't the departure day for either Lady Melon or for the person sailing to the Azores. Thursday wasn't the departure day for the person who sailed Sunset Cruise Lines.

5. The person whose destination was the Canary Islands (who wasn't Sir Sable) sailed sometime earlier in the week than the person who sailed on Paradise Ocean Lines, who sailed sometime earlier in the week than Mrs. Bluebell.

6. Miss Lavender sailed sometime later in the week than the person who sailed on the Sea Princess Cruise Lines, which left port after at least two other liners that week.

7. The person whose destination was the Sandwich Islands departed sometime later in the week than the person who sailed the Mermaid Sea Lines.

8. Neither the Blue Ocean Lines passenger nor the Sunset Lines passenger is the person who sailed to the Cape Verde Islands.

March 2001 EK Puzzle - Wearing of the Green

To celebrate St. Patrick's Day, Everett and five of his friends (two of whom are women - Liz and Sandy, and three of whom are men - Joseph, Phil, and Steve) decided to wear something green. They met at the local pub to celebrate by drinking some green beer and playing darts. Mostly, they simply enjoyed one another's company as each is in a different profession (one is a dentist) and they don't often have an opportunity to get together. From the clues, can you determine the profession of each individual, the different item each wore which was green (each person wore only one item which was green), and the particular color of green of each item (either forest, hunter, lime, olive, sea, or shamrock green).

Note: Clothing items would include the polo shirt, slacks, and sweater, and accessories would include the baseball cap, shoe laces, and tie).

1. Both Everett (who isn't the lawyer) and Joseph wore something green which is considered an accessory. Everett didn't wear anything which was olive green in color.

2. Both the lab technician (who isn't Phil) and the woman who is a financial advisor wore some type of clothing which was green.

3. Neither Liz (who didn't wear a green shirt) nor Steve is the person who wore the sweater, which wasn't shamrock green.

4. Phil didn't wear the item of clothing which was sea green in color.

5. The three people who wore accessories of green are Sandy (whose item wasn't shamrock green), the person who wore the item which was olive green in color, and the person who wore the tie.

6. The two women are the bank manager and the woman who wore something which was lime green in color.

7. Neither the item of clothing worn by the pilot nor the shoe laces were hunter green in color.
