September's ClueJo Puzzle - Island Hopping

Everyday, someone was playing Clue somewhere around the world, and Mr. Boddy was fed up with being shot, hanged, and bludgeoned at every turn. Therefore, Mr. Boddy decided to take a cruise, and he had just the place in mind. Being a gambler at heart, he decided to visit the five Casino Islands, which had a magnificent gambling casino on each one. Not only did he have a chance to win some money, but he would not have to put up with those infuriating suspects from the game, who were forever "doing him in."

But, alas, it was not to be! Mr, Boddy visited one casino on each island, and then returned to the casino on the island where he first began his jaunt - and who should he run into on this little excursion around the islands, but the six dubious suspects he was trying to avoid! From the clues, determine the name of each island in the order in which he visited it (one of which was St. Marius), the name of the casino on each island (one is the Golden Fleece Casino), and the suspect or suspects he ran into on each island. Note: Mr. Boddy encountered at least one suspect at each island.

1. St. Stephens was not the first island visited, but he did visit it immediately before travelling on to St. Nickolas.

2. Mr. Boddy visited St. Tomas immediately after visiting the island where he had an unpleasant encounter with Mr. Green, whom he ran into immediately after visiting the island on which the Imperial Palace Casino is located.

3. Three islands Mr. Boddy visited consecutively, from first to last, were the island where he bumped into the pompous Prof. Plum, St. Nickolas Island, and the island where he visited the Magic Mountain Casino.

4. Immediately after dropping a wad of money at Pirate's Cave Casino, Mr. Boddy visited the island which he had previously visited, and while there he happened to meet up with the insufferable Col. Mustard.

5. Mr. Boddy ran into Mrs. White at St. Guida, and needless to say he was not too happy to see her as he was still smarting from some insults he received from both Prof. Plum and Miss Scarlet (who was not the first person Mr. Boddy chanced upon during his holiday).

6. Mrs. Peacock was not the person he happened to run into at the White Castle Casino.

ORDER ISLAND CASINO SUSPECT

This month, the Everett Kaser puzzle is based on an idea from the great man, himself! It is a duet, so one will need to work back and forth between the two puzzles in order to solve them.

September 2000 EK Puzzle, Part 1- The Orders in the Mail!

Five fairly new members to the Kasergames list recently ordered registered versions of one or more of Everett Kaser's games. The two women (Corinna and Kris) and three men (Ben, Darryl, and James) each ordered a different number of games, and each game was ordered by a different number of people. Everett made a trip to the post office on a Wednesday afternoon to drop off the orders, and the next week each individual received his or her game or games - each on a different day (Monday thru Friday).

From the clues, determine the first name of each person who placed their order, the day they received their game or games, and which of the Kaser games each ordered (Descartes Enigma, Honeycomb Hotel, Mesh: Hero, Sherlock, and Solitile).

1. The person who ordered all five games received his or her games in the mail on Friday. The woman whose favorite Knarly Works image set is "Rainbow" ordered only one game (which arrived on Monday).

2. Darryl either ordered twice as many registered versions of Everett Kaser games as did Mr. Hughes, or he played twice as many Knarly Works games as did Mr. Hughes, but not both.

3. From the total number of games that Everett sent out that Wednesday afternoon, more people ordered the game Sherlock than had ordered Mesh:Hero, but fewer people ordered the game Sherlock than ordered Descartes Enigma.

4. On three consecutive days, games were received in the mail by Darryl, a person who played a total of exactly 100 Knarly Works games, and a person who did not order either Mesh:Hero or Solitile (but who did order both Descartes Enigma and Honeycomb Hotel).

5. The person who played a total of 75 Knarly Works games did not order the game Solitile from Everett Kaser.

September 2000 EK Puzzle, Part 2 - K'narly Wait to Play!

Five individuals who ordered one or more of Everett Kasers games a few weeks ago are also doing beta testing for Everett's newest game, Knarly Works. Recently, each man and woman sent a message to Everett letting him know how much each enjoyed the game, and each happened to mention the image set he or she liked the most (Anthill, Buttons, Dungeon, Rainbow, or Streets). It seemed to Everett that level 6 of the game seemed to be the most popular, and each of the five players mentioned having played a different number of games at level 6. From the clues, determine each individual's first and last name (one is Stoddard), the Knarly Works image set each likes the best, and the number of games each has completed at level 6.

1. The three men are Mr. Milstone, the one who received his order in the mail on Thursday, and the man whose favorite image set in Knarly Works is "Streets" (who was one of the four people who ordered the game Honeycomb Hotel).

2. James is one of the two men who ordered Mesh:Hero.

3. The person who liked the Knarly Works image set "Buttons" the most (who is not surnamed Linde) played twice as many games of Knarly Works as did Ms. Bion.

4. A total of exactly 600 games of Knarly Works was played by the five beta testers (one of whom played half many Knarly Works games as the one whose favorite image set was "Streets").

5. Kris (who didn't order either Mesh:Hero or Solitile) received her games in the mail the day before the one whose favorite Knarly Works image set is "Anthill," and the day after the person who played a total of 225 Knarly Works games.
