WHAT IS JIU JITSU? HOW IS IT DIFFERENT THAN OTHER MARTIAL ARTS?
All martial arts, if taught correctly are good. With Jiu Jitsu, we focus on self improvement through personal achievement vs. competition. The practitioner of Jiu Jitsu has a large array of techniques available to him or her, including submission holds, strikes, throws, and holding techniques. Jiu Jitsu, transslated as the gentle art, does not rely on brute strength, but rather on superior position, flexible response, and redirection of an attacker's force. Most street encounters will eventually end up on the ground. Unlike Karate and other striking styles, Jiu Jitsu concentrates on defense at a very close range.
