CHAPTER 1

Reginald White is about to perform a ritual he's done many a Sunday, However, after this Sunday his life will take on a whole new purpose.

The first part of his day was a blur. He attended church services with his family, hurried home to watch the Eagles game while slamming down dinner, then shot to work around 4:00 PM.

Reggie has worked at SOLARCOM as a Repair Technician for fifteen years. The Company manufacture powerful machines that support the infrastructure of multimedia transmission, receiving and data storage. Reggie works in Repair and Retrofit or the (R&R) Department.

With only a handful of employees scattered throughout the plant, it was very quiet at SOLARCOM. None of Reggie's comrades were scheduled to work that evening, The best part is, Reggie's Supervisor does not come in on Sundays, resulting in a very laid back vibe.

As Reggie trouble-shoots a circuit, he's immersed in deep thought.
This is a sweet job and it pays decent money but decent doesn't even put a dent in my bills, those credit cards, the 401k loans that just seem to hang there and don't get me started on car insurance. What I need is some abstract money like five million dollars or something like that, now I can really do some damage with that kind of money. I'm sorry Lord, I know I should be thankful that I even have a job, I just need some kind of financial relief.

Time passes and a ringing phone breaks the mesmerizing silence. It's a double ring, which means it's an outside call.
He mutters, "Probably my wife Darinda calling to find out what time I'm leaving."
As Reggie dashes for the phone, he glances down at his watch, "Whoa I didn't know it was this late." He grabs the cordless phone almost dropping it.
"Repair, Reggie speaking."
"Reggie, do you know what time it is?" An anxious voice asked.
"I just checked my watch I'm wrapping it up right now alright?"
"Reg, have you looked outside?"
" Dar it's 12:30am I can't see anything out there, you know how big this place is, once you're in here you hardly know whats going on outside."
"Well, you better look honey because, freezing rain is coming down all over Philly, and out there in Jersey where you are. That stuff's going to freeze-over soon so you'd better…"
"What! Hey babe I'm outta here, see you in a few."

"…This is a winter storm warning! The forecast calls for freezing rain. Temperatures in the tri- state area are already in the low twenties and expected to drop further through the night. Overpasses and bridges are treacherous so if you absolutely do not have to drive, then please don't. Remember to stay tuned to this station for further updates, possible school closings and delayed openings."
As the music resumed on the radio, Reggie felt his chest, tighten. He thinks to himself I've got to relax, thank God, hardly any cars are out here on the road tonight, so if I do a little sliding I will have plenty of room to manuver.
Suddenly! The night sky pulsated, with a huge strange looking light, casting an eerie pattern of colors through the icy rain, and over the wooded area just off the highway.
"What in the world is that? Whoa!" Reggie almost lost control of the car, "what's going on over there?" He thought, Maybe it's a downed power-line.
Then, he saw it! Hovering majestically, gently pulsating with all the colors of the rainbow.
Reggie did not realize it, but he had come to a complete stop on the shoulder of the road. While he sat gazing up at this marvelous machine, the inside of his car lit up with pulsating lights as well. Reggie instinctively swung his head around to see what was happening. A State Trooper had pulled up directly behind Reggie's car. The light rack on the trooper's SUV was strobing and the spotlight was trained on Reggie's rearview mirror. The officer got out of his patrol car and carefully walked up to the driver's side of Reggie's car, flashlight in hand,
He asked, "Are you all right?"

Reggie rolls his window down and simultaneously asks, "Do you see that thing, officer!?"
"Yes, I see it."
They both watch the great machine. It was so low, the many naked tree branches around it narrowly missed being crushed by the mammoth vessel. It was easily a city block in diameter, appearing to have the classic sphere like swells radiating from the center of the ship. This colorful spectacle looked to be metallic at first but then it began to take on a glass or crystal like appearance with soft luminescent colors hugging the whole structure. It made a low humming sound, like a gigantic transformer.
While Reggie strained his eyes to see more detail, the massive oddity turned neon green and vanished completely from sight.

The officer, who was standing up next to Reggie's car, bent down and made no mention of what they both witnessed. He simply yelled,
"Is this vehicle disabled?"
"No" Reggie replied.
"Then I suggest you get moving."

After having said that, the Trooper adjusted his rain gear and lumbered back to his patrol car.
Dazed, Reggie rolls up the window, puts the car in drive, and slowly pulls onto the highway.
Occasionally he would glance up at the sky, looking back and forth for that UFO.
He spotted some flashing lights, which turned out to be large Municipal trucks salting the highway on an overpass.
As he replayed the entire event in his mind,
He thought,
"Why didn't that officer make any comments about what we saw? Maybe he was cold and just wanted to get out of the weather, I don't know."

Reggie began to scan the radio stations to check for reports of strange sightings, There were none, only repetitious weather reports.
He thought,
" I should have bought a cell phone. I don't know if it would have made any difference, but at least I could have called somebody if I wanted or needed to. This kind of experience is just too weird." Mentally exhausted but somehow re-excited, he quietly celebrates while turning onto the street where he lives, and wouldn't you know it, somebody has already taken his parking space. "Aw man, Why tonight?"
He slowly drives down the street looking for the nearest parking spot, which happens to be close to the corner. After parking, the Club is put in place. Opening the car door, he Carefully negotiates all of his movements until he arrives at his house.
Again he quietly celebrates,
"Hey, Darinda must have salted the steps. All right!"
Reggie climbs the steps, wrestles with the locks and finally, he's in.
Hurrying up the stairs to the bedroom, He finds Darinda sitting up in bed, chain smoking, drinking coffee and paying very close attention to the rabid weather reporters. They all take turns dramatizing the storm. Darinda takes one last drag from her cigarette before extinguishing it in the coffee cup.
As she placed the cup on the nightstand, she ranted,
"I was worried sick, there are trucks jackknifing and…"

Reggie interrupts,
"Hold it baby, You have got to hear this!"
Reggie starts to take off his jacket.
Darinda warned,
"Don't you put that wet jacket on the bed,
Undaunted Reggie continues,

"Baby you won't believe this, I saw a UFO, I'm serious!"

Darinda pleaded. "Come on Reggie, stop playing around."

"No, no, I really did."
While Reggie tells his story they prepare for bed, Darinda just shakes her head as they snuggle up for the night.

CHAPTER 1

When the alarm clock goes off, Reggie and Darinda debate if they should take the day off. They both work for the same company and Reggie usually drive them both to work. The traffic reports begin to weigh in on their decision, the storm ended about 2:00am and the Road-Crews had managed to make most major roads passable.
As Reggie and Darinda swear to go to bed early, to make up for the sleep they lost, Reggie heard something on TV that caught his attention.

"Dar, where's the remote? I want to hear this."He presses the volume increase button.

"…And now, we go live to South Jersey for a report from a man who said, he saw something in the sky last night, and it was not the moon. Mr.Tanner, tell us what you saw."

"Well it looked like a very large balloon or blimp or somethin, but a couple of my neighbors swear it was a flying saucer."
"Sir, do you think it was a flying saucer?
"Ah, I don't know exactly what it was, that's why I called you guys, I'm pretty shocked you reporters actually showed up."

"Mr. Tanner between 1:00am and 3:am we received about a dozen calls from this area, We have contacted the local authorities, but they could not corroborate any reports of UFO's or weather balloons."
The man tried to say something but nothing came out. He was obviously excited about being on TV. It only took him two seconds to get his voice back, but in the reporting business, that's an eternity. The reporter just moved ahead with his agenda.
"Well folks we've had UFOs and now,.. more -weather---woes. I'll tell you all about it right after these messages."

"That definitely was not a weather balloon I saw last night, and how come they didn't interview that State Trooper who saw it with me?" Reggie mumbles, as he reaches blindly for his pants.
"Reggie your pants are on the ironing board, not the bed. You have to stop thinking about that stuff and get dressed or we're going to be late."

They arrived at SOLARCOM's parking lot without incident. The lot was slippery but they made it to the building. Nerves frazzled, Darinda fussed about suing the company if she had fallen.

Reggie was tired. As soon as he got to his department, he headed straight for the coffee.
Returning to his workbench, he cradled the coffee cup and thought about that UFO, It was on his mind big time. He wondered if anyone at the job might have seen it.
He thought. I just can't go tellin folks, I saw a UFO, That would not be cool, I can hardly believe it myself. Where did it come from and where is it now?

"Good morning, Reggie, It's cold out there huh?"
Slightly startled, Reggie responds,
" Good morning, Sherman, ah, yeah, it is pretty cold out there."
"Dang, Reg, you really got the Monday mornin blues."
"Aw I'll be alright, I just gotta wake up." Said Reggie, as he looked up at Sherman.

"Good morning Reggie, Good morning Sherman,"
A voice sang from a short distance away.
We turned and tried to look as handsome as we could, and said,
"Good morning, Oceana."

Reggie thinks to himself, "Oceana, now there's one fine woman. She's a mix of Hawaiian and
Afro-American heritage, featuring, the perfect tan. Her legs are shapelier than Tina Turner's ever were, and as if that were not enough, she's smart to boot.
He glanced at Sherman who was also caught in Oceana's spell. She flung her long black hair back and walked away with the grace of a runway model.

Oceana is divorced from Troy Maximilian who is referred to as (Max). He's 34 years old and his father owns a 100 million-dollar toy company, He set Max up in the Real-Estate business, which Max and Oceana built into a ten million-dollar Enterprise. Max studied the Marshall Arts since he was a child. His father even arranged for him to go to China and receive the best possible training. Consequently, Max even learned to speak Chinese.

He is naturally gifted in the Marshall Arts, reaching the rank of Grand Master in, Wushu Kong Fu by his 32nd birthday. He spent Four years in the Marines, then transferred to the Navy Seals. There he served ten more years.

The Navy Seals had temporarily stationed Max in Hawaii.

Until thirty years old, Max had been focusing exclusively on Marshall Arts training and his Military career. However, he had considerable down time in Hawaii and that may have caused him to take personal inventory. He was smart, handsome and thanks to his training, he had a great body. But that wasn't all. He also could be a very persuasive conversationalist.

When he started to mingle, Women found Max hard to resist. He met Oceana there, while She was vacationing and visiting her relatives. He liked Oceana the very first time they met. She was wise beyond her years, and very assiduous, but she shrugged off his advances. This both challenged and fascinated him. Max became so fascinated with her that he focused all of his efforts into winning Oceana's heart. Consequently, he wound up marrying the twenty-year-old siren. Since they both lived in New Jersey it was a relatively easy transition, plus Max's Mom and Dad eagerly welcomed Oceana into the family.
Oceana gave birth to a son whom they named after Max. They seem to have a storybook marriage until all hell breaks loose. Oceana received a letter from two Lawyers representing their client. Two women were filing separate paternity suits against Max.
Oceana immediately became nauseous and dizzy, She staggered as if she were drunk and fell to her knees,
"This is not fair, it's just not fair, why is this happening to me?"

CHAPTER 1

PAGE 04

Immediately flashbacks to her childhood appeared. Memories of her parents weathering those hard times, together. Oceana always felt deep down inside that when she got married there is no way she is going to allow anyone or anything to breakup her marriage. But alas, the signs of a decaying marriage were evident in the way Max flirted. At first, it was subtle but then Max would flirt openly and recklessly with beautiful women, even when Oceana was only a short distance away.

Her stomach started to cramp, causing her to drop the letters and double over. She assumed a fetal position and wept bitterly. When Max got home, he was shocked to find Oceana lying on the floor. He immediately thought to dial 911 but he was compelled to see what was wrong with her first. He gathered her up and placed her on the sofa. She looked haggard but she opened her eyes.
"What's wrong honey?" He asked. "Are you sick, do you want me to take you to the Hospital?"

She pointed to the letters on the floor. He slowly rose from the sofa and curiously began speed reading the first letter.
"D- - n!"
He was going to deny everything but he knew the women and the suits were legitimate so he took a different approach.
He confessed his infidelity and assured her that she was the only woman he loved. He promised to stop cheating and make things right. Three months after his promise, a 19-year old girl name Sherry, called Oceana at home. The girl was crying and hysterical. She sobbed through a story about having miscarried Max's child, eight weeks into her pregnancy. She apologized for her sin and said she was hopelessly in love with Max.
Oceana had enough. She filed for divorce.
Under pressure from his lawyers and his father, Max did not contest the divorce.

Reggie mused, "It is really mind boggling the way Max played her, he had it made, What an idiot."
Now Reggie and Sherman are very good friends so Reggie quizzes Sherman.
"Sherman, did you hear any reports about UFO's or anything this morning?"
Recovering from Oceana's spell, Sherman responds.
"UFO's? No, why? Heads up, here comes the Supervisor!"

The Supervisor, Vince Marino stops, makes eye contact with each of them, nods, and says, "Good morning." Then he briefly updates Reggie and Sherman on what repairs are hot. Afterwards they all retreat to their various duties. Usually there are six people working in the repair department but three are on vacation and one was borrowed for service calls. So it was just Reggie and Sherman holding down the fort.

Later, at break time, Sherman plops down next to Reggie for a quick chat.

"Have you heard? SOLARCOM has hired another engineer."
"What?" Says Reggie, "I thought there was a hiring freeze."
"Maybe but I heard that this guy is some kind of genius."
Reggie smirks, "All of our engineers think that they're geniuses."

"Yeah, I know but this guy is supposed to be the REAL DEAL, and word is, they got him for practically nothing."
"What's his name," asked Reggie?
"I think they said his name is Ira Sweat or Sweet or somethin like that."

"Well I sure hope he can help this company get the bugs out of that new Router Fortifier."
"Yeah, CISCO is willing to pay big bucks for that baby, if our engineers can get it to run right. So Reg, what are you doing for lunch? Oh! Scratch that, I just remembered I gotta go to the bank at lunchtime."

Time went by pretty quick for a Monday and before Reggie knew it, lunchtime had rolled around. He looked for Sherman, thinking maybe they could grab something to eat and discuss their dream of opening a Steak Joint. Hearing a rustling sound behind him, he turned around, and it was Sherman. Then Reggie remembered that Sherman had to go to the bank.
Sherman handed Reggie a Wendy's bag and said,
"Enjoy, My team won last night and Larry's lost, so he had to buy me lunch, but it's cold and I don't have time to heat it up. Well, I'm out."
Sherman turns around and quickly weaves his way through the shop floor and disappears.

Reggie concedes to himself,
"Well, I guess I'll just go and hang out with my wife in the cafeteria."

As Reggie got close to the cafeteria the aroma of cheese and tomato sauce seem to dominate the air. No matter how many other foods are cooking in the microwaves, cheese and tomato sauce rules, unless it's fish of course.

You can tell it's Monday, folks are dropping their coins on the floor as they sift through change to put in the vending machines. (They got that, bad coordination on a Monday blahs.)
Reggie looked for his wife but she was not in there, so he searched out an empty table and claimed it.
Aw man, I gotta have something to drink with this sandwich, He thought.
As he got up to go to the soda machine, he noticed a new face.
Reggie could not help but wonder,
"Could this be the new Engineer they're talkin about?"
As he takes out money for the soda machine, dimes, nickels, and quarters fall and act as if they're making a prison break. They roll every where, under the machine, under people's feet, under the tables, it was embarrassing. Oh well, Monday blahs poor coordination.
He picks up several coins, just enough to buy a coke, while people hand him the other renegade coins that were lying around camouflaged against the floor tiles. Thanking them Reggie heads back to the table,
"Oh no, the new face guy caught me looking at him."
The new guy nods and says,
"Hello."
Reggie nodded and said,
"Hiyadoin?"

As Reggie sat down, he realized that the new guy was right across from him. The man holds up a coke and says,
"This is very good."
"Yeah says Reggie, I prefer Coke myself, although I occasionally buy Pepsi."
"Pepsi? Ah yes, Pepsi. This is my first time tasting this Coke. It is very good."
Reggie didn't know quite how to take that comment so he looked at him, and wondered what country the man came from.
Sicily, India, Lebanon perhaps? It was difficult to tell. He looks to be about 6 feet tall, lean build, olive complexion, and long jet-black hair. His face was chiseled with sideburns that were long and striking. His eyebrows where thick but neatly shaped over mesmerizing dark eyes. He also had a Tom Seleck type mustache. The man looked dapper, sporting an off-white turtleneck, expensive brown slacks, and brown shoes that were easily three hundred dollars a pop.

He took another sip and looked at the can. Lowering the can to the table but keeping his hand on it, he turned to Reggie and asked.
"So, what do you do for this company?" Reggie felt a bit defensive as he answered,
"I am a Repair Technician."

"Good," he said as he took another sip of Coke. Then he looked Reggie dead in the eyes and asked, "What is your name?"
"My name is Reginald but everybody calls me Reggie."
"It is my pleasure to meet you Reginald. My name is Ira Sweet." Then he shook Reggie's hand. Reggie's thoughts were alarmed,"Something strange is going on here, he introduced himself, but not audibly. He did it with his mind! I know it's Monday and I'm not quite with it, but that was real!"

Ira grinned at Reggie and said in an audible voice,
"Relax that was just a very sophisticated trick."
Reggie asked.
"Trick? What trick?"
Ira glanced around to make sure no one was close by. Then, Pointing to his own head he said in a lowered voice,
"Speaking to your mind."

"No way," reeled Reggie
"Do it again." But before Ira could say anything, he grabbed his own wrist with a hand motion that was a blur. He cut his eyes at Reggie and said,
"Please excuse me."
Ira got up and took broad strides to the window of the cafeteria. He looked up down and side to side while rubbing his wrist. That's when Reggie noticed it was not his wrist he was rubbing but a black bracelet with gold bands around the edges. The man turned around and looked down at nothing in particular, his eyes rose and focused on the exit. Right away, he took quick deliberate steps to the exit.

Reggie thought to himself, "this is very deep. Checking his wristwatch and noting that fifteen minutes of precious lunchtime was gone, he grabbed the Wendy's lunch and stuck it in the microwave. Still curious he walked over to the window. Looking up and down and side to side, he did not see Ira or anything out of the ordinary. He fetched the sandwich from the microwave and sat down to eat. While a sense of knowing Ira for a long time spooked Reggie, the room started to vibrate and there was this loud sound like pulsating thunder outside.

Four helicopters where flying low over the SOLARCOM building. A group of people scurried over to the window to gawk. One of them said, hey they're military Copters, I've never seen them fly that low around here.
