New Flights, Dates for Grand National Teams:

Flights B, C begin in March; Register by Feb. 28.

A popular bridge event has been expanded for 2001. The Grand National Teams will be played in four flights this year: Championship (open), Flight A (0-5000 masterpoints)  Flight B (0-2000) and Flight C (non-life masters under 500 points).

With its point ceiling raised to 2000, Flight B should draw many returning players. Its Unit Final will run four sessions, on Saturday, March 3 and Sunday, March 4.  Flight C will play its two-session Unit Final on Sunday, March 4.  As in past years, Flight B and C play at the American Legion Hall, 1435 Pfingsten Road, Northbrook.  Game times on both days are 12 noon and 6 p.m.  Pre-registration is required. Flight B/C captains must contact Patty Chiszar by noon on Wednesday, February 28. In Flights B and C, four winning teams from our unit final will play in Milwaukee on May 19-20 for the right to represent District 13 at the Summer NABC in Toronto.

In all flights, players must be members of District 13 and in good standing with the ACBL.  In Flights A, B and C,  they may not exceed point restrictions as of August 15, 2000.  Players who are members of a non-ACBL organization must register in writing with the Unit Coordinator by February 28.  The Director-in-charge is authorized to make the decision on the player's classification.

Championship and Flight A players will have to wait until May for their events. The District Championship flight will begin Saturday, May 5 and continue as needed on May 6, 19 and 20.  Flight A, another district-wide event, begins Sunday, May 6, and continues May 19, 20 and June 9.
