Prominently featuring Doyle's riddle idea
from The Adventure of The Musgrave Ritual, this film
brings Holmes and Watson back to a more proper setting.
Throughout the film we only get hints of a global struggle
and although the film still portrays a modernized Holmes
it is less obvious. Here we find Holmes and Watson in a
more canon-like environment, investigating murder at a large
country manor!
We still hear Rathbone state patriotically
how the world is slowly changing for the better, but gone
are the Nazis and Holmes' curious hair style as well!
This film, under the title of Sherlock Holmes Hunts the
Soho Devil, along with the film, Sherlock Holmes
and the Pearl of Death, was later released in Germany.

Near
the end of this film Holmes faces off with the murderer! Is that a
sarcophagus behind them?
Did you recognize it? You should! This set was also used in Bela Lugosi's
Dracula (1931) !
