After a bit of prompting from critics and fans it was decided at Universal that it was time to bring Holmes back to his correct time period. This film is one attempt and although we still are missing the horse-drawn carriages and foggy London streets!

Holmes and Watson are hard at work once more solving another murderous puzzle on a trip to Scotland! This time however it is Watson who (even in his most bungling portrayal) discovers the vital clue that leads Holmes to victory!

Credited as being based on Doyle's Adventure of the Five Orange Pips the main story line has more in common with Agatha Christe's And Then There Where None. Doyle's story is never used and only the actual orange pips make it to the screen!
