This is the fifth in a series of festivals dedicated to dance as spiritual practice. The first was in New York City April 2000.
When/Where: The upcoming Fourth Annual Dance Vision Festival will take place Friday, Saturday, August 22 and 23rd and will occur at the Falmouth Unitarian Universalist Fellowship at 840 Sandwich Road. Falmouth is a sanctuary seacoast town on the "heel" of the boot of Cape Cod. SEE MAP.
Our intention is for people in the region---old, young, dancers and non-dancers alike---to experience their sacredness and the sacredness of their world through the oldest form of celebration, visionary revelation and healing prayer---Dance! An integrated guided journey facilitated by Steven Malkus and Geordie Holmes with special invited guests for two full days that offer participants a truly rare opportunity, joyous and transforming.
...The festival's underlying premise is that dance has always been at the spiritual heart of community...
Program: This festival is one journey with one price for the weekend, only $20, and all participants are encouraged to arrive Friday afternoon, August 22rd at 3-4pm, stay through 6pm for an opening sharing circle to get to know each other and set our intention, and return in the evening for activities from 8-10pm. The schedule for Saturday the 23rd is to start in the morning, break for lunch (there is a great kitchen at the UU for preparing simple stuff ), dance through to 6pm, break for dinner and then back for the big bash finale 8pm-10pm. Sunday, the 24th has an optional closing circle outside behind Falmouth Town Hall set for 11am.
This festival is for everyone including children and young teenagers.
There will silence, and a variety of music condusive to the journey. There will be stillness, slow, trance-like movement and energetic and joyous group work. But above all it will be what we all make it---so bring your hearts, dreams and best intentions for a fun-filled, dance-filled time!
Geordie and I hope that this "good medecine" will return with all participants to their respective lives and that we will continue together to energize this community dancing into sacredness and joy!
