PST Polygraphite bushing cut down to fit the stock '68 B-body sway bar bracket

I put the above pictures on the web in response to a question on the Mopar Mailing List.   Here is the original question and My response to help clarify the pictures.

The sway bar I'm adding to the 67 Barracuda needs bushings badly; it is
unusable as is.   I have the funky parts from PST.   Called PST, no
standard bushings, and no idea if they exist anywhere.   Called Chrysler,
the parts guy spent two cups of coffee looking up numbers - nope, they
only come WITH the sway bar, and that is no longer available.

I would appreciate any info on where I can get them, or any success
stories on how to modify another bushing to work and still look
"normal."

Thanks,

Michael

Well, it depends on what you mean by "Look normal".   :)

I assume the bushings on the barracuda sway bar are similar to the ones
on my '68 Charger.   I recently did this when installing the PST
polygraphite bushings on my General.   I didn't like the way the new
bushings and adapters looked so I took those bushings and cut them down
to fit in the old brackets.

I'm not sure I can explain how I did it except to say that I did and it
is possible.   The poly is practically as hard as wood and was fairly
easy to cut with a saw.   I cut it down so it would fit very tight in
the old bracket.   I slipped the bracket onto the bar. Put the cut down
bushing on the bar.   Then used a small vise and some clamps to press it
into the bracket.

It doesn't look too bad from a galloping horse.   :)   I left the
bushings there full length (width?) so they stick out the ends of the
brackets but if you are real picky on how they look you could cut them
down flush with the bracket once they are pressed in.

I have a couple of pictures of the cut down bushings before and after
they are installed on the bar.   I will scan them in and put them up on
my web page on Monday for anyone who wants to see how bad they look.
