GREEN GOBLIN II

Following his father’s memory loss, Harry Osborne took over the reigns of Osborne Industries. Despite not having a great deal of business sense, and little knowledge of chemistry, Harry worked hard at maintaining his father’s business. After a few months, Harry discovered one of his father’s private laboratories, where he found the Green Goblin costume and equipment.

Harry was aghast. He couldn’t believe that his father had disgraced himself and their family by performing such activities. He quickly locked the lab up. Since his father had apparently lost all memory of his time as the Goblin, Harry determined to keep this incident quiet.

When the Hobgoblin appeared, Harry was torn. How could he allow someone else to continue in the shameful legacy of his father? Spider-Man, however, appeared able to contain the damage that the Hobgoblin created, and as Harry was busy with his own issues involving Osborne Industries, he tried to ignore it.

But then, Spider-Man disappeared. While Daredevil seemed to have taken up much of the slack left behind in Spider-Man’s absence, Harry couldn’t help but feel that the Goblin legacy was his responsibility. So, with a heavy heart, he allowed himself back into his father’s lab.

Finding his father’s notes, he recreated the Goblin formula, and took it himself. He quickly realized that, like his father, he was now smarter, stronger, and more physically fit. He found that he was quickly able to analyze and understand his father’s notes and inventions, and so, he donned the costume of the Green Goblin.

He went into the night, determined to learn more about his abilities, and to try to find ways to redeem his families’ honor. Stopping the Hobgoblin would be a part of it, to be sure, but there had to be more. Harry decided that he must do as much good as his father had done evil, and that the public must learn to accept the Green Goblin as a hero, and not a villain. He knew it would be a difficult battle against public opinion, but it was one he was determined to win.

Before appearing in the public, he encountered The Amazing Ghost Fighter™, who was attempting to track down Daredevil. Avoiding an altercation, Harry managed to convince The Amazing Ghost Fighter™ that he was working on the side of the angels, and The Amazing Ghost Fighter™ passed word on to the JLA of the new Goblin’s existence and intentions.

After becoming the Goblin, Harry let his personal life suffer. While he still made sure to pay attention to the business, a task which had become much easier since taking the Goblin serum, he found little time to spend with either his best friend, Peter Parker, or his on-again/off-again girlfriend, Mary Jane Watson. Whatever personal life he did have, however, was turned completely upside-down thanks to his father's surprise return and campaign of nightmarish revenge; a rampage of psychological warfare that tormented all of those dearest to Harry, while also very possibly compromising Harry's secret identity.

Still reeling from the damage done to his life by his father's machinations, Harry then had to deal with new turmoil caused by The Patchwork Man: OsCorp was devastated by The Taskforce's economic attack on The Patchwork Man's holdings (of which OsCorp was a major one, thanks to years of collaboration between The Patchwork Man and Norman Osborne), Harry was forced to fight both Venom and Spider-Man after Peter Parker was convinced by his "new psychologist" that Harry was one who had tortured and brainwashed him, and Mary Jane was kidnapped by Carnage.

Despite all of this, however, Harry ultimately emerged from these trials with the first glimmer of hope he'd found in a long time. After rescuing Mary Jane, Harry took a colossal chance and revealed to her that he was in fact the Green Goblin. Although clearly rattled by the revelation, Mary Jane still managed to react with great understanding and made it clear that she was committed to working it through with Harry. All told, Harry has found a terrific weight lifted off his shoulders, even in the face of a crashing business and a delusional best friend who wants to see him dead.

Powers:
Harry Osborn has an enhanced physiology due to the chemical "Goblin formula" which boosted his strength and intellect, although not allowing him to reach superhuman levels.

As the Green Goblin, Osborn employes equipment and weapons built around the goblin motif – a powerful one-person, bat-like glider; concussion, smoke, and incendiary bombs; and gloves of electrical generation.
