BLOOMSDAY 2001
Well another year has gone by and another race is complete. We all have some aches and pains, but we have our t-shirts to get us by till next year.
This page is dedicated to the fun people who show up almost 4 hours early at 5:30 or 6:00 AM each year and make the freezing cold fun to bear. Thank you all again for the fun this morning.
Before the pictures - here is a little of my own inspiration and my statistics for today, May 26, 2001.
3rd person to be at the
starting line at 6:00 AM.
| Only person who was a runner
in the front of the "Yellow Start" to take pictures.
| Only person to not wait in
line for potty ---- Had a Chuck-E-Cheese insulated coffee cup in my car
parked in the lot next to the start. I would get in my car with my black
lawn an leaf bag on and NO ONE COULD SEE ME PEE!! Worked great. Just
be sure you NEVER EVER drink out of someone else's Chuck-E-Cheese coffee mug
you know to be a runner.
| Only person to Pee into an
orange gator-aid bottle 3 minutes before start of race, in front of the news
cameras and 50,000 people.
| Finished the 7.46, 12
kilometer race with an unofficial time of 62 minutes and 50 seconds. | |
Now you all know how to make next year even more fun.
AND NOW THE PICTURES - Click on the picture you want to look at and it will open a nice larger picture in a new window.
The following are Spokane's own famous "Sweater Trees". Every year these trees blossom sweaters on Bloomsday. This is not unlike the swallows at Capistrano that appear once a year after a long winter. Note that some of the "BUDDING SWEATERS" have fallen to the ground --- a sure sign that spring is just around the corner.
Hugs to everyone and hope to see you all next year - Don't forget to bring a "Special" Pee bottle so we can all have a "News at 11" shot!! We'll be famous.
