MAY HUTTON CHAPTER
was organized September 21, 1996 with Mrs. Dorothy Braithwait as Organizing Regent. On October 12, 1996, a charter was granted to the chapter by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. The chapter was named in honor of May Hutton, whose efforts were instrumental in getting the vote for women in Idaho in 1896.

WHAT IS DAR?
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) is a service organization dedicated to service to America. Over 100 years old, it is composed entirely of volunteers, women ages 18 & up. Its objectives are Historic Preservation, Promotion of Education and Patriotic Endeavor.

MEMBERSHIP
Women must be over the age of 18 and must prove descent from one who aided the cause of the American Revolution. For more detailed information on membership requirements, please visit the National Society's Home Page.

CHAPTER MEETINGS
are held the first Saturday of each month, September through June, at a Spokane Valley restaurant beginning at 9:00 a.m. Meetings include patriotic observances, chapter business, reports on national defense, a message from the President General NSDAR followed by a short program. If interested in attending, please call (509)926-0050. Guests are most welcome.

CHAPTER OFFICERS
Chapter Officers consist of an elected executive board which serves for a two-year term. Chapter committees assume responsibility for much of the chapter work.

LOCAL C.A.R. SOCIETY NOW ORGANIZED

Janelle Braithwait, C.A.R. Senior Society Organizing President, along with the membership of May Hutton Chapter, NSDAR, is proud to announce a new C.A.R. society in the Spokane area. The Spokane Society Children of the American Revolution currently has 10 members, all between 6 and 17 years old. They are the children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews of DAR members.

Membership is open to young people up to 21 years old who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution. Anyone interested in joining C.A.R. please contact Janelle Braithwait.
