I’m normally a passive type of person, but I propose that anyone who uses the word "utilize" be clubbed repeatedly with one of those singing trouts (kill two birds with one stone).
Now take, for example, "partake." I’ve seen "partake" (or some inflection thereof) in Paradise Lost and Siddhartha. And Siddhartha was such a great book that we should definitely use that as the standard by which words are acceptable. (Siddhartha sucked.) Anyway, try to find the word "utilize" in either of those books, or at least up through Book II in Paradise Lost because I was too lazy to read any further.
