Please allow me to illustrate what I believe to be a complete outrage, but only after I make a disclaimer. I’m not mad at the beneficiaries of affirmative action; I’m angry at everyone in general for allowing this: society, the university system, politicians, and voters (YOU!, or at least the Democrats among you).
First person:
Goes to UW-Parkside, a humble, commuter college in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Most notable achievements: 29 ACT score, commendable class rank, passing grades on 4 AP tests, co-captain of the varsity high school boys soccer team with four years on varsity. Received a paltry (by comparison below) thousand-something dollar scholarship from the UW-system, renewable each year if he maintains a 3.5 GPA.
Second person (and I'll be vague for my own good):
Goes to UW-Madison, a "good," mostly-respected school. Scored a much lower ACT score (lower, in fact, than the average at Madison). High school curriculum was not as academically strenuous or impressive as first person's. Get the point? Received full tuition from the UW-system for four years if she maintains a 3.0 GPA.
Why the difference in scholarship requirements/amounts when the first has a clear advantage over the second? Because the second is half-black.
I don't even care if the second person stumbles across this somehow. I don't care if it's politically incorrect to say this is wrong. I don't care if I'm taking an unpopular stand. I know I'm right, and I know I'm sick of this silly crap.
