Don’t nod in agreement, you antiestablishment dupes. I just made them up.
But we can all, at least, agree on this: Puddle of Mudd sucks!
As a handful of groups hog the radio airwaves, and thus the mainstream spotlight, hundreds of little factions splinter off and form their own underground “cults.” They successfully siphon public interest away from the conventional. Because conventionality is bad.
It's what all the cool kids are listening to these days! The more obscure, the better. Ignoring actual musical ability, Stone Sour is good; the Aquabats are better; the Flying Penguins are the best. In fact, the Flying Penguins are so underground that they haven't even been formed yet, so you know they must be one hot (yet still unknown) commodity. I highly encourage all rebellious music devotees to appreciate these next few months, before the Flying Penguins sell out and go mainstream.
