KMS closed again after May 27, 2005. We are back at Cowtown and Missy is racing at GPS on Fridays when Cowtown is not racing mods because of ASCS.

Martel had a great race night this past Saturday at KMS. He got 2nd in his heat and he was hot on the leader's tail. He then got 5th in the A. He was right in there and going strong. Missy transfered from the B and got 10th in the A. She started on the back after a false start due to a pile up involving some other cars and came to 8th place. She lost two spots on the last couple of laps, due to a lap car being in the way. It was and exciting night of racing.

Well, a lot has gone on since the last update. To see our results since the beginning of the season, click on the Results link on the left. We took the 66 mod to TMS and had a decent showing. Got 4th in the Consolation Race. KMS opened briefly and closed after 3 weeks, so we went to Cowtown for 4 weeks. KMS reopened under new management on 4/30, so we went back over there and plan on staying there. The new management group and promoter are really trying to bring the track up to the level that it should be operating, and after only two weeks, I'd say they are headed in that direction. Martel is doing very well in his rookie season. He's making lots of laps, which will give him the experience he needs. Come on out to KMS. We'll be there most Saturdays through September! Races start @ 7 pm, and end by Midnight. Click the link at the bottom of this page for more info.

We have a new driver in the family! After many years as crew chief for Missy, Martel is getting behind the wheel in the #13 IMCA Southern SportMod. He has participated in two practices so far and has gotten around the track quite well. We are also preparing Missy's Modified for the season. Boy, are we going to be busy this year!

The regular season has come to an end. The team earned top 8 finishes in the last 8 races with 3 of those being in the top 5. The team did not race on Sept. 4, so no points were received. 9th place is the final points position for the team.
August 7, 2004
Just a quick update. Missy made the big A at the IMCA Texas Nationals at HOT in May and finished 14th after starting near the back. Since the Nats, the team struggled for about 6 weeks with a fuel problem, which was cleared up by Martel a few weeks ago. On August 7, the team got a respectable 5th place finish.
March 5-6, 2004
Things went pretty well at TMS. Not a bad way to start off the season. Friday night, Missy got 2nd in her heat and 7th in the B-Main, missing the A-Main by one spot in both races. Saturday night, Missy got 2nd in her heat and 3rd in the C-Main. Unfortunatly, they were only taking 2nd and third spot in the C, because the promoter decided to run 20 cars in the B instead of 24. Luckily, the promoter also decided to run a consolation race for non-qualifiers, which Missy won and took home $500! Thanks to the team event sponsor, crew chief and pit crew.

It's time to get this party started! Come on out to the first race of the year, the Pro-Cuts Texas World Dirt Track Championship, at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track on Friday, March 5 & 6 at 5pm. Thanks to our persistent event sponsor!
October 17-19, 2003
First of all, a very special thanks for Amy and Jon Moffett, who helped out tons at the Southern Challenge!
Well, the Southern Challenge was eventful. The team borrowed a truck and enclosed trailer, and had a blowout on the trailer about 1 hour down the road.
Missy won her heat race Friday night (passed 3 cars on
the outside), which sent her to the A. She was running pretty well in the A, but after a restart a car pushed her up the track and out of the grove which allowed a bunch of cars freight train by. She finished 18th. The races were over at 4am.
The Kiva Inn had no phones, no remote for the TV, black mold on the ceiling tiles and no hot water, so the team had to change hotels
Saturday morning.
Saturday, Missy drew a 200 out of 200 and started at the back of her heat. On the single-file restart the car in front of her didn't go, so she slammed on her brakes to keep from passing him, but they black flagged her anyway. Citing that her bumper was beside his back
bumper on the restart. The problem with that rule is that they will start any race, even if one car is several car lengths ahead of the car on the outside pole. Seems like a contradiction to their single-file restart rule. Her 2nd heat didn't go any better, except she didn't get black flagged. She started on the back of the Ladies' Cup Race and got 2nd. Christy Georges' car was hooked up and took the win. The races were over at 3am.
Sunday, Missy won her heat, which put her on the 2nd row inside of the last chance qualifier. On the first lap the outside car
attempted to crowd her down into the tires, causing his and Missy's rear tires to wheel-hop. His left rear tire came of the rim, Missy kept going, but there was a pile up in the back of the pack. Missy got the black-flag again. Ooh is she a naughty girl. A video tape of the race clearly showed that Missy did nothing wrong, but I guess it's not hard to believe that the chick got the blame. The team packed up and headed out.
There was another blowout on the trailer about 20 miles down the
road, and again about another 20 minutes later. With no spare, the team had to get tire service, and three hours after leaving Abilene they were on the road again.
So, the weekend was full of ups and downs, but included some highlights (2 heat wins, raced in an A-qualifier, raced in a Last Chance Qualifier and got two black-flags) that will not soon be forgotten.
October 12, 2003
Since KSP cancelled the ToS, Cowtown picked up the race for Saturday and Sunday. Saturday night got rained out, so it was a one day show. There were around 46 modifieds. Missy started on the back of her heat and finished 3rd. She finished 4th in her B (behind Sean Jones, Carl Large and Jimmy Littlejohn), which put her into the A. She started 2nd to last row in the A, and was up to about 13th position, when the 82 of Brandon Houk took a left turn on the straight and sent Missy hurdling towards the wall. She gathered it up avoiding a head on collision, but did hit the wall. This ended her night with a 14th place finish. We are preparing for the Southern Challenge and Ladies' Cup at Abilene Speedway on Oct. 17-19.
September 27, 2003
Missy finished 10th in the A. Missy's dad, Milton, was crew chief while Martel visited his grandmother. Thanks Dad! The regular season is now over, and Missy finished tied for 8th place with Mike Cozad. We are preparing for the Tournament of Speed at KSP on Oct. 10-12 and the Southern Challenge and Ladies' Cup at Abilene Speedway on Oct. 17-19.
September 20, 2003
Missy finished 2nd in her heat and 7th in the A. Hubby, Martel, finished 2nd in the mechanics race! Way to go! Only one night left in the regular season. We are preparing for the Tournament of Speed at KSP on Oct. 10-12 and the Southern Challenge and Ladies' Cup at Abilene Speedway on Oct. 17-19.
September 10, 2003
Winding down the regular season. Only three nights left in the regular season. We are preparing to make it to a couple of big shows in October.
July 19, 2003
There were 38 mods at KSP on Saturday! 4 heat races, 2 B-mains and a feature race. There was a special line-up, because it was the mid-season championship. The points leaders were lined up in front of the heats and the feature was lined up heads up for the people who transferred in the heats. Missy got 2nd in her heat and 7th in the A.
July 12, 2003
There were 38 mods at KSP on Saturday! 4 heat races, 2 B-mains and a feature race. Missy made a clean sweep by winning her heat race and the A-Main! She took over the lead after a restart late in the race, and held off hard-charger, Scotty Brown, and veteran, Darryl Campbell, in the closing laps despite a couple more cautions. Missy's Brother, Casey, also won the feature at Boyd on Friday night.
June 28, 2003
There were 43 mods at KSP on Saturday! 6 heat races, 3 B-mains and a feature race. Missy won her heat race. Later she was in the top 5 with less than 10 laps to go when a car in front of her got out of shape. When she checked up, several cars got by her before she was back up to speed. She got the 9th place finish in the A!
May 25, 2003 Texas IMCA Nationals
There were over 100 mods at KSP on Saturday and Sunday! Friday there were 12 heat races, 6 B-mains and a feature race. Missy won her heat on Saturday, and she drew a 1 on the redraw, so that put her on the pole for the A-Main Qualifier. She stayed up front and finished 6th, which put her on the 6th row inside for the Sunday BIG A Feature. That win also made her the first female to qualify for the Texas IMCA Nationals. On Sunday, she had 8th place wrapped up when a caution flew with less than 2 laps to go. On the restart a car had a delayed start which resulted in a pile up that put her out of the race. She was scored in 20th, but finished on the hook.
April 19, 2003
There were 38 mods at KSP on Saturday! 5 heat races, 2 B-mains and a feature race. Missy got tangled up with a car that spun in the first turn of her heat and broke the right upper control arm, was first alternate for the A and got to start after a car pulled off before the green, and got 14th in the A.
April 12, 2003
There were 50 mods at KSP on Saturday! 6 heat races, 3 B-mains and a feature race. Missy got 2nd in the 1st heat and 11th in the A.
March 29, 2003
The first race of the season at KSP is now in the record books. There were 53 mods! 6 heat races, 3 B-mains and a feature race. Missy got 5th in the 6th heat and 4th in the 3rd B, which put her in the 24th starting position for the A-main. She climbed her way up and finished 13th in the first A of the season. Not a bad start! Man, the track was smooth and it was COLD!
