Deep Space 9

Deep Space 9 is a Federation outpost in orbit of the planet Bajor. The base, originally constructed and run by the Cardassian Empire, guards the entrance to the only stable wormhole known to exist. Bajor, which is not a member of the Federation, asked for a Starfleet presence to help manage the station and guard the wormhole.

Personal Information: Sisko was widowed when his ship was destroyed by the Borg at Wolf 359. He was friends with the Dax symbiant when it was in its previous host, Kerzon. He was promoted to Captain two years after assuming command of DS9. In the eyes of the Bajoran people, Sisko is the "Emissary", a religious figure of great importance. Although neither he nor Starfleet like this, they have had to accept it. In his spare time, Sisko enjoys baseball, and once created an ancient Bajoran space vessel from scratch.

Joined Deep Space 9: As the Bajoran liaison between the station and the Bajoran government in 2369.
Personal Information: Kira fought in the underground from the time she was very young. Many of her friends and family were killed by the Cardassians. In the beginning, Kira was not happy with the Federation intervention requested by the Bajoran government. She has since accepted it. Kira has also shown herself to be deeply spiritual and religious.

Previous Posts: Joined Cardassian- run DS9 soon after leaving a lab where he was being studied.
Joined Deep Space 9: As Chief Security Officer for the Cardassains. He remained on the station after the withdrawal of the Cardassians.
Personal Information: Odo was found drifting in space and sent to a lab to be studied. After having been found to be sentient, Odo left the lab and joined DS9 (then Terah Nor). His species originated in the Gamma Quadrant and formed the Dominion. Odo has been friends with Kyra for many years and has secretly fallen in love with her. He has accepted, though, that he will never be anything more than friends with her.

Chief Miles Edward O'Brien - Chief of Operations

Previous Posts: Served as tactical officer aboard the USS Rutledge during the wars with Cardassia. He also was the Transporter Chief aboard the USS Enterprise-D for six years.
Joined Deep Space 9: Transferred from the Enterprise "D" with his wife and daughter in 2369.
Personal Information: O'Brien enjoys kayaking, poker, and darts, and loved building model starships and engines as a child. While serving aboard the Enterprise "D", he was introduced to Keiko, later his wife, by Lt. Commander Data on the Enterprise. Keiko, who worked as a teacher on DS9, was a botanist on the Enterprise and has recently returned to DS9 after practicing botany on Bajor.

Lieutenant Jadzia Dax - Chief Science Officer

Personal Information: Jadzia applied to the Symbiosis Comission and was selected to be joined with a symbiant. This is a great honor for a Trill, only the smartest and best can be joined. Her relationship with Sisko goes back to her former host, Kerzon, who was good friends with Sisko.

Doctor Julian Bashir - Chief Medical Officer

Joined Deep Space 9: Requested a post shortly after graduating second in his class from the Academy.
Personal Information: Julian loves playing darts with Chief O'Brien and tried to become a tennis pro before choosing to pursue a medical career. Although he and O'Brien got off to a rocky start, they are now best friends. For a time after joining DS9, Julian was very much infatuated with Dax, but he's gotten over her and is currently dating a Dabbo Girl.

Personal Information: Worf's natural parents died in a Romulan attack soon after the alliance between the Federation and the Klingon empire was formed. Worf's adopted father was one of the USS Intrepid's rescue team that arrived at the Khitomer outpost. Worf began a relationship with Deanna after visiting an alternate timeline where they were married. In his free time, Worf enjoyed simulated battles in the holodek and practicing a Klingon form of yoga.
