 COURSE DESCRIPTION FOR
MICROSOFT POWERPOINT-ADVANCED

This class description basically covers all versions of PowerPoint.

Become a PowerPoint power user! Master advanced techniques needed for extraordinary presentations guaranteed to knock their socks off. The class is instructor-led with plenty of hands-on activities. Learn to:

  • Create a custom template by selecting a color scheme, background fill, fonts and clip art.
  • Enhance a presentation by using custom clip art, animation and movies.
  • Work with embedded and imported objects by using Microsoft applications.
  • Customize the PowerPoint environment by modifying toolbars and using the Options dialog box.
  • Build interactive presentations by creating hyperlinks and action buttons and create custom slide shows.
  • Become familiar with collaboration features by creating online meetings and broadcast presentations.

LENGTH

Approximately eight hours. Recommend two four hour sessions.

PREREQUISITES

Successful completion of PowerPoint - Introduction or equivalent knowledge as well as a basic understanding of word processing and spreadsheet concepts. You must also have a good understanding of basic Microsoft Windows, file management and personal computers.

NECESSARY HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE

  • An x86-compatible PC that meets minimum hardware requirements for Windows 95 or later or Windows NT 4.0 or later. (A Pentium 90 with 32 MB or better is recommended.) Check your reference manual for specific hardware considerations.
  • 500 MB of free hard-disk space. (Windows NT only: At least 4 MB of available space in the Registry.)
  • Windows 95, 98 or Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 3 (or higher) installed.
  • Microsoft Office, including a custom installation for PowerPoint.
  • Either a local CD-ROM drive or access to a networked CD-ROM drive.
  • A floppy-disk drive.
  • A VGA or higher display adapter. (The EGA display adapter is not supported.)
  • An installed printer driver. (Printers are not required; however, you must have an installed printer driver to use Print Preview.)
  • Microsoft mouse or compatible pointing device.
