COURSE DESCRIPTION FOR
SHOWCASE YOUR DATA WITH CHARTS USING EXCEL

DESCRIPTION

Dazzle coworkers and clients with professional looking charts. This course will show you how to create a variety of charts as well as provide helpful tips on selecting appropriate chart types. You will also investigate ways to personalize your charts and share them with other Office programs. The class is instructor-led and is full of hands-on activities. You can also bring your own files to experiment with. Learn to:

  • Create a chart from worksheet data using the F11 function key and the Chart Wizard and identify chart components.
  • Create a pie chart to showcase a single data range.
  • Create column and line charts to track data over time.
  • Create embedded and linked Excel chart objects applications other than Excel.

LENGTH

One four hour session.

PREREQUISITES

Excel 97 or 2000 - Level 1 or equivalent knowledge. You must also have a good understanding of basic Microsoft Windows, file management and personal computers.

Create charts quickly with the F11 key and the Chart Wizard
Identify chart components

Lab Activity 2: Emphasize a single data range with a pie chart
Create a pie chart
Work with pie chart options

Create column charts
Create line charts
Save chart settings

Lab Activity 4: Spice up your reports with charts
Include an embedded chart object
Include a linked chart object
Discover the differences between embedding and linking

NECESSARY SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE

  • An IBM or IBM-compatible computer equipped with Excel 97 (or higher).
  • Word 97 (or higher) installed to complete Lab Activity 4. (If you don't have Word installed, you can use the WordPad Windows accessory to use the Paste Special feature.)
