COURSE DESCRIPTION FOR
TRACK AND ANALYZE YOUR BUSINESS DATA USING EXCEL

DESCRIPTION

This course is a must for any self-employed person or business owner interested in tracking and analyzing relevant information in Excel. Discover how to build formulas to project sales, calculate loan payments and explore handy lookup tables. The class is instructor-led and is full of hands-on activities. Learn to:

  • Create simple formulas with cell references and functions.
  • Use absolute and mixed cell references in formulas and use the Round function.
  • Build formulas using the If and Vlookup functions.
  • Create formulas with the PMT function to calculate loan payments.

LENGTH

One four hour session.

PREREQUISITES

Excel - Level 1 or equivalent knowledge. You must also have a good understanding of basic Microsoft Windows, file management and personal computers.

SPECIFIC CLASS CONTENT

Lab Activity 1: Excel formulas "101"
Create basic formulas with cell references
Create formulas for a profit statement
Use functions and labels in formulas
Create a formula for income projection

Lab Activity 2: Build formulas to project sales
Create formulas with mixed and absolute cell references
Use the Round function
Add Clip Art
Prepare the report for printing

Lab Activity 3: Use lookup tables to find delivery charges
Experiment with the If function
Use the Vlookup function
Use the If and Vlookup functions in a formula

Lab Activity 4: Calculate loan payments
Create formulas with the PMT function

NECESSARY SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE

  • An IBM or compatible equipped with Excel 97 (or higher).
  • A printer (optional). You must have an installed printer driver to use Print Preview.
