COURSE DESCRIPTION FOR
MICROSOFT WINDOWS - INTRODUCTION
This class description basically covers all versions of Windows.

Did you miss the basics or are you a computer newbie? This course will prepare
you to work with your favorite applications including the internet. You
will be introduced to important computer, network and Internet basics. It
is instructor-led with hands-on activities. Learn to:
- Use fundamental personal computing concepts and terminology.
- Work with Windows desktop objects and windows.
- Navigate to stored information.
- Manage files and folders.
- Use common Windows program techniques by working with
WordPad and Paint.
- Customize the Windows desktop to your needs.
- Access the Internet and use basic functions of the Internet
Explorer.
LENGTH
Approximately eight hours. Recommend two four hour sessions.
PREREQUISITES
You should have a little or no experience with computers.
You may wish to take the Introduction to Personal Computers course
before taking this course. That course covers personal computer basics and
working with hardware.

NECESSARY SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE
- 486DX/66MHZ or higher processor with 16 megabytes (MB)
of Random Access Memory (RAM); 32 MB is recommended. A typical installation
requires approximately 195 MB of hard-disk space.
- A CD-ROM drive (either a local drive or access to a network
CD-ROM).
- VGA or higher-resolution monitor.
- Microsoft mouse or compatible pointing device.
- A printer (optional).
- Internet access.
