COURSE DESCRIPTION FOR
ENHANCE YOUR DOCUMENT DESIGN AND LAYOUT USING WORD 2000

DESCRIPTION

Are you ready to create great looking documents using Word? This class showcases many helpful features available as well as introduces you to the general design and layout concepts the pros use. The class is instructor-led with lots of hands-on activities. You can even bring your own work to experiment with. Learn to:

  • Evaluate and apply design and layout principles to documents.
  • Apply advanced formatting to fonts, create drop caps and use special symbols in bulleted lists.
  • Improve the layout of Word documents using line breaks, section breaks and the ruler.
  • Create a pull-quote enclosed in a text box and create a watermark.

LENGTH

One four hour session.

PREREQUISITES

Word - Level 1 or equivalent knowledge. You also must have a good understanding of basic Microsoft Windows, file management and personal computers.

Lab Activity 3: Prepare effective layouts like a pro
Review the main parts of a document
Simplify your layouts with sections
Command attention with text organizers
Adjust line spacing to improve readability

Lab Activity 4: Make a statement with text boxes and graphics
Draw readers' attention with pull-quotes
Identify your document with a watermark

NECESSARY SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE

  • Windows 95 or Windows 98
  • Word 97 or higher.
  • A printer (optional). You must have an installed printer driver to use Print Preview.
