COURSE DESCRIPTION FOR
MOVING FROM WORDPERFECT TO WORD (BASIC TOPICS)
DESCRIPTION
Are you making the move from WordPerfect to Word? There
are big differences between these two word processing programs. Save yourself
hours of frustration by taking this valuable class. You will discover how
to translate your WordPerfect document formatting knowledge to Word. The
course is instructor-led with hands-on activities. Learn to:
- Change the appearance of a document by using character
formatting.
- Change the appearance of entire paragraphs by using paragraph
formatting.
- Use styles to affect the appearance of paragraphs.
- Create and use templates and change defaults in the Normal
template.
LENGTH
One four hour session.
PREREQUISITES
No prior knowledge of Microsoft Word is required, but you
need to have an intermediate knowledge of WordPerfect as well as an advanced
understanding of word processing concepts. You must also have a good understanding
of basic Microsoft Windows, file management and personal computers.

NECESSARY SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE
- 12 megabytes (MB) of Random Access Memory (RAM) if you
are using Word for Windows 7.0 or RAM if you are using Word for Windows
6.x. Check your reference manual for special hardware considerations. [Note:
the courseware is written for older versions of Word and WordPerfect but
the differences will be outlined in class.]
- A printer is optional; however, you will need to have
an installed printer.
