| All of the photos on this page were taken with my Meade 2120 LX10
telescope, except the picture of comet Hale-Bopp. The photos of Mars, Jupiter,
Saturn and the Moon were obtained using eyepiece projection with a Meade
Tele-extender. The photos of M13, M57 and M42 were obtained by taking long
exposures with the help of an Orion Off-Axis Guider. The photo of comet
Hale-Bopp was taken with just a camera on a tripod.
Note: If you are using Internet Explorer, you might want to go to the browsers preferences and uncheck the option to use compressed graphics. Otherwise some of these pics won't look so good. |

I ended up with quite a few good photos of mars back in 88. Unfortunately, a lot of them didn't survive. In this pic, i combined 8 good ones to show the planets rotation. |

For some reason, i never really got any photos of Jupiter that showed a lot of detail. Of course, you can see the two broad bands, but not much else. I probably should have used a higher contrast film. This pic turned out pretty good though. |

Saturn is a little more challenging than mars or jupiter because it is fainter and requires the shutter to be left open longer. Leaving the shutter open is just asking for blurrieness. Despite that, i did have a few decent photos that showed some darker bands around the planet. Those photos are now all stuck together thanks to my leaky roof. |

The crater copernicus is visible in the upper right of this photo. The seeing was exceptionally steady when i took this picture. It is probably the clearest photo of the moon that i have. |

In this composite, i took the original photo and ran it through a couple of filters in Paint Shop Pro to bing out certain details. |

This photo of comet Hale-Bopp was taken at Valley Forge Park. It was approximately a 20 second exposure taken with just a camera mounted on a tripod. |
