Beautiful Lake: Crater Lake, Oregon

View
of Wizard Island from the rim of Crater Lake, 1999
Wow!
That's heard quite a bit around this jewel in southern Oregon.
Even though it doesn't get the pub it deserves, this may be the
most beautiful place on earth! It's calm, deep blue water seems
almost unimaginable, as if someone had painted it. Even more
impressive is how the lake seems to change appearances as the
day goes on, and as you view it from different places along its
rim. The only boats allowed on the lake are the daily tours,
which is a must! This gives you yet another perspective of the
lake, and let's you get up close & personal with Wizard Island
and the Phantom Ship. However, make sure you're in good shape,
because the hike from the rim to the shore is a killer! Be sure
to stay overnight at the Crater Lake Lodge (the only place around!)
to experience the peace and tranquility of this special place
at night. It's a bit pricey, but damn worth it!
