Hike: John Muir Trail, Yosemite NP

Top
of Vernal Falls, 1997
This
trail leaves you winded and sore, but also gives you a true sense
of the beauty and grandeur of Yosemite National Park. Beginning
at Happy Isles, you climb your way up the busiest part of the
trail to the bottom of Vernal Falls, where a cool breeze awaits.
Then, take the shortcut up the Mist Trail alongside the falls,
where a cool mist (or shower, depending on the time of year)
awaits. Before long, you're at the top of Vernal Falls, enjoying
the sweet sounds of the rushing water as you rest on one of the
comfortable rocks nearby. Be sure to continue on towards the
top of Nevada Falls, where the drop is even more impressive.
This is a good place to turnaround, but if time permits and you're
not too tired, you can keep going until you reach the top of
Half Dome. If that doesn't suit you, this trail finally ends
at the top of Mt. Whitney. However far you hike, this one is
definitely one of the most memorable and satisfying.
